Anyone have any ideas how I could install my VG shark fin overtop of the huge antenna base we get here in Canada? I know in previous threads people were talking about adding a second 3m gasket but I have a feeling that would make it sit too far off the roof of the car and look like crap. J/W if it would be possible at all to swap the antenna base for a different/smaller one??? if so how hard would it be?

Whaaat? I don't know what you guys are doing with this thing, but it does fit!!

Mine went right over the base. It kinda feels like it shouldn't/wouldn't I agree.
But once you push it down it will go over and it will stay over.
I've had mine on for months now and it's not falling off, it's been in hot and clod weather, many many car washes (I guess hand washes I should say) and it's still there.

Just push it down.

It works and fits just fine over the bigger satellite/navi antenna. Here's mine.

The antenna base on mine is much bigger than those navi ones that you guys have. It looks about the same size base but mine is much taller for some reason. I will post a picture later today. When I place the shark fin on the car both sides of the antenna base ttouch the inside of the shark fin. I almost decided to try and have it down a bit with a file but was to scared to F something up.

haha ok i'll give it another shot rox lol but i'm still posting some pics so people can see how huge our antenna bases are here in canada... But is that fact that it is touching the outside of the fin going to have any negative effects on the radio signal strength??? not that I listen to the radio that often but I do use it when I go to the Drive-in so I want to make sure that the signal strength is still going to be decent.

I listen to radio occasionally, it seems to be as good as the stock. Which means in my case it wasn't really good in the beginning. Underpasses and tunnels will cut the volume or cut out completely. But seems to work well out in the open, depending on radio stations - naturally not all of them have a good signal.

But fact of the matter is that the little thing looks so much better than the stock - IMO.

I don't have Sirius. I don't have the navi package.
I have XM and the antenna for XM is on the back right corner of my roof, it's not covered or affected by the shark fin.

Yep, I was talking about FM/AM radio. Not sure what the deal is with the built in Sirius units.

Look at the size of this antenna base its huge... And i've read in a few other topics that people have had signal problems if the base touches the back of the shark fin. I mean a few poeple have even said they wish they never got them, all they've had was problems since they installed it... It just looks sooooooooooooo damn nice I want to put it on lol... Even if it means no more drive through carwashes lol

It'll fit over yours just fine. The shark fin was designed based on the non-Sirius antenna, which is exactly what you have.
