I have a 93 3000gt sl

So I'm heading home last night and I'm stopped at a light. Light turns green and the guy next to me takes off, so I join him. No more than 3 seconds down the road, my rpms drop to zero.. I tap the gas pedal and the rpms jump back up to 2k and then die again. I let the car coast to a stop. During that time I'm looking to see if any lights have popped up on the dash but there weren't any and the headlights were still bright and the radio was still on, so I know the battery and/or the alternator were not the culprit. After I bring the car to a stop I try to start her back up and all she does is crank, she wont turn over. I had to have it flatbedded back home and now she sits in my driveway.

I have no clue what to do. I'm thinking maybe the MFI relay went? Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? Any help would be great. Thank you.

i know it soudns retarded but i don't know how car savy you are. did you check you spark plugs (even the 7th one that connects to you starter relay i think it is)
that happened to my car and one of the plug wires came out, the car died and then as i checked it i noticed the starter wire had pretty much desinigrated. just an idea.

I'll just say that I am not an expert mechanic but i do know some about an engine. I learn most from the repairs that I have to do to the 3k.

As soon as can roll the car in the garage I am going to check everything to do with the sparkplugs and distributor cap and other related wires. (thanks to your suggestion i did a bit of research) thank you!

check for any check engine codes the ecu may be throwing. It could be a bunch of different things (cas sensor, bad ecu, cam angle sensor, ptu, etc)
