Hello-

My kid just bought a "97 GS. Her first car and I'm trying to resolve a few little probs.

For one, the radio (I believe it's the stock Infinity system) will power on but we have no sound. The station I.D. is displayed for a moment, then it just shows the time.

There is a CD changer in the rear which doesn't work either.

I searched out codes but figured that's probably not it because it isn't asking me for a code.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!!

Jan

And it probably wouldn't hurt to pull the sucker out and pull off and clean the cables that are connected to it. Sounds to me that either that's the problem, or your amp is toast.

If the amp is toast, you can usually find them on ebay for pretty darn cheap because ALOT of people take them out and wire in better aftermarket ones. Every now and then you can find them in a junkyard, but because that sound system was an option, it's kind of hit and miss on if you can find a car that actually has one.

My 97' RS got all that stripped before I got it. No CD changer and no amp. Oh and all speakers were blown.

Check the 10a radio fuse under the hood. I'm not sure if that will even help in your situation because if that fuse is blown you shouldn't be getting any power to your unit. If all else fails just go to a car audio store that does instillations. Ask them about it. They should be able to figure it out without having to look at your car. They like to display their knowledge and will tell you anything you need to know :P

Well, this is a good and bad thing...

The good thing is, you look like the man right now.

The bad thing is, now everytime something is wrong with it, you will be the first one they go to!

Anyway, did it fit back in nice and tight? If it's just barely hanging on, you can put some tape or something on it to keep it from popping off again.

yeah, I may have to tape it up a little.

Hopefully there won't be too much else to fix- I have to look at the sunroof and see why that won't open all the way.
