I took my 2000 GT (Cali specs) to Midas today to have them check my exhaust system. Apparently, my flex pipe has a gaping hole in it, and it will need to be replaced. They said they could replace it for $180, but I'm almost positive I can purchase the part for far cheaper. (I am 22-year-old girl, I might add. They may have assumed I was clueless.)

Would anyone have any idea what size flex pipe I should buy? Inevitably, I'll probably have them install it, but I don't want to spend $180 when I can spend $80.

Thank you! :)

From a business owner perspective, we make money on parts and labor...just have them install it and be done with it. OR take it to a real repair shop.
Off the top of my head I'm not sure what size it is.

I don't know how the 3g cars are setup but when I took my 4g in for inspection it failed for basically the same thing. The place they recommended to me to take it to to fix it wanted $300 to replace just the flex pipe. The cost for the whole pipe from the dealer is only $235 plus tax.

As I said earlier in this post I don't know how the 3g cars are setup but this is the website I ended up buying my pipe from. http://ricartmitsubishiparts.com

It only cost me $148 plus shipping.

I don't know off hand which pipe you would need but maybe it would be cheaper just going and buying a new pipe.

Thanks! I asked because I found aftermarket ones at low costs.

Oh, and as for mine being destroyed, I'm not sure how indestructible those parts are. Maybe it was a flex pipe sabotage.
