So I am thinking about painting my eclipse but am probably going to sell it soon so I dont want to spend alot of money.

I considered painting it the OEM maroon color and was quoted about $350 for paint and $70 for the primer which is more than I really want to pay.

I am also considering something like paintforcars.com because it is much cheaper but am wondering about the quality (and also I dont really want to paint the jams/bay cuz im lazy =/).
Here is what I was looking at.

http://www.paintforcars.com/kits_burgundymetallic.html

http://www.paintforcars.com/supplies_primer.html

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Also, if you know of any websites or brands that carry inexpensive paint that is also decent quality then please mention them.

Thanks

If I can get some inexpensive paint, then I can get some practice painting and probably sell the car easier as well.

But anyways, havent even decided if I am going to paint it or not. But thats my decision and thats not the question i was asking.

if you paint it yourself or take it to some cheap place, you run a serious risk of making your car worth even less. get the job done right or not at all. my opinion.

for the price you were quoted I'd get my car painted

I have been quoted 5k for top notch paint job for my OEM black 95Talon
i live on a gravel road so I'm prob just going to do a Earl Schieb I wouldn't be having to paint it if the factory would have had better quality clear coat

The quote you got sounded pretty cheap to me man. I was quoted $1500 for a gloss black, $800 alone for "extreme sanding" just to put the primer/base on.

^Def not doing that.

it's actually worth it to drive to WV, pay all that gas money, and still come out ahead.

Haha, true. I didnt think of that. You are like, what? 4 hrs away? Thats like 200 miles give or take. say you get 20 mpg for simplicities sake.

do the math:

20miles/1gallon = 200miles/x gallons

200/20=x
x = 10 gallons.

10 gallons * ~$4 = $40 one way

$40 x 2 = $80 trip.

since you would need to return to pick it up and also bring another car for the pick up:

$80 x2 = $160

$160 + $80 for the second car = $240 trip total.

$500 + $240 = $740 total

Also throw in another, say $60 for food, that means you will be spending a grand total of ~$800. That is STILL cheaper than the $1000+ you would normlaly pay. haha

you wouldn't make me lunch?

if I went from home it would be even cheaper. My parents live in Johnstown, PA. thats only about 2 hrs or so. gas is 2.99 here right now

idk about u but gas is only 3.25 for premium here so even less
