Define "open." Was the filter still in place? Secure?

Stop the car, shift to MANUAL, and drive easy, shifting around 2000 to 2500 RPM. You need at least 5 MPH to access the next gear (15MPH for 3rd, 20MPH for 4th, etc...). Make sure you are pushing up on the shift knob to upshift (or + on the paddles).

You can also try hitting 60 MPH in AUTO (not manual) mode and see where you RPM band is. Anything over 2000 RPM means that the tranny is not shifting properly and may need to be serviced.

at first i just "uncliped" the clips that were keeping the intake box together, the intake box was still closed (the two halfs were touching), drove maybe 7-8 with that

then not more than 2miles with thte box wide open

i just checked the filter is in place and drove around to check the shifter
1 works fine, 2,3 fine, 4 works but revs dont go past 4rpm, accelerates very slow
5,6 (even when i floor) wont accelerate, revs dont go up

wait.... you purposely drove around with it open.... why? *sigh*

You have a warranty.... why are you wasting time here? Take it to the dealer. I don't know why you people ignore your warranty, you paid good money for it.
Anyway.....
How well are you shifting? Are you beating on it or taking it easy.? If you don't properly break in your new engine that can create problems. Like Willy said make sure you are shifting at the right RPMs and giving the car time btw shifts.
Flooring it is never the answer! Please do not do this! Not only are you wasting gas you are making your engine work harder when it already has trouble at low RPMs

+1 FMP

mate112, did you even try driving the car in AUTO like I suggested? Jump on the freeway and drive at a steady 60MPH. If the CVT is shifting properly, the car should be at a steady 2000RPM.

How fast are you going when you are in 1, 2, 3, and 4? If you are going 30MPH in 6th gear, the car will BARELY accelerate, even if you floor it. Hell, 1st gear ALONE will reach up to 40MPH before redline... and that's on a CVT! WITH A LIMITER!

Do us all a favor and provide us with a video of this oddity before taking it to your dealership.

i didnt do the auto, just the shifting u suggested

i was at 35-40 when shifted to 4th gear (does accelerate, i can feel the pull), as soon asi switch to 5th, the rev. meter bearly goes up (2-2.5 rpm), same with 6th, cant feel the pull with neither of these gears

i also tried while driving, 50-70mph, switching from D to shifting, 6th gear same situation, 5th gear same situation

i havent checked my revs at 60mph in auto (but iam preety sure they are what they should be, just above 2rpm), ill do that next time i get a chance.

p.s. i did drive with the shifters before, i do remember it did not act like that

At 35-40MPH, you won't feel a huge pull like the lower gears at the same speed. 5th gear at that speed should be at 2000 RPM and 6th should be around 1500 RPM.

At 60MPH, 6th gear should be about 2200 RPM and 5th gear should close in around 3000 RPM.

I would still like to see a video... but take it to your dealership anyways. At least you can get the peace of mind.
