with all the bolt ons in the world = 160bhp, 130whp MAYBE

with a complete all motor build I think the highest i've seen was around 183whp. Which isn't too bad for an all motor build with a stock stroke.

if you can find someway to turn your 420a into a destroked 2.1 or something like that you may be able to break the 200whp mark at 9000rpm if you can get the head to flow that much(which may be possible) but I don't know if anyones tried it and I don't know where you would start.

with turbo I would guess about 700whp before the deck starts to come apart

The way I see it, is if a Honda can do it, we should be able to. The main difference is back then, people were researching endlessly how to get more power out of the 4 bangers, where as now, people know a turbo does it, so they skip the N/A build and got straight for turbo.

My project requires that I stay N/A, so I am going to try to find a way to get to at least 200-225 mark. If CFM is what is needed, then that should be fairly simple, especially with my custom intake setup.

As I told pwee, Bisimoto Engineering has produced a 460 hp N/A F22C for use in his Honda Insight. I also recently came across a magazine called Engine Masters where they build a 402 N/A hp B-Series, and it runs on pump gas.

Eh fuck it... my math wasn't coming out right, or at least it didn't seem right...
I am going to still try to see if I can get to that mark, and we'll all find out what happens when I do...

I just hate to see people give up on a good engine and jump straight to turbo. It seems that since the turbo was slapped on a 4 banger, people have all but given up hope on their naturally breathing power...

I still haven't seen dyno charts for those numbers though.

you will need your head to flow roughly 500cfm to get 400hp. i'm not saying it can't be done but rule of thumb in smaller engines is get them to spin faster and flow more. small engines build more power at higher RPM. thats why crotch rockets and 2.1L destroked 4g63 engines haul ass at 8-9500rpm (of course crotch rockets go higher but you get the point)

honda have vtec tho. the only thing we have is the later model mitsu's with the mivec engine. and they have japanese people bulding their engines. we got the american craptastic chrysler motors. it is kinda crazy that a 4cylinder s2000 puts out like 230hp or sumthin like that tho without turbo. if the turbo was removed from a evo 8 or 9, how much hp would it have with just headers or sumthin?

Yeah, but Bisimoto has a 460 HP N/A SOHC, and they specialize in non-v-tec engines...

I can't find a damn dyno chart, but he uses an F22A in his Insight and it's running 9.42!!!

Here is a long block bundle, and it says
QUOTE(Bisimoto Engineering)
Proven up to 390whp+ n/a and 970whp boosted, with proper components

390+!!! So it ain't 460, that is still hecka impressive!

That's V8 territory...
