Well to start off, I'm new to the forums, so HI!

Currently I own a 05 Cavalier w/ custom turbo kit, but It's still lacking the power I want.
So I've been looking into getting a 2'nd gen. I think they look sweet and can be bought a great price.

This is what I'm looking at
Ebay 97 GST
From what I've gathered so far I'm going to want to do a built 6 bolt 4g63 swap to avoid the crank problems.
So I've found 4g63 6 bolt block for $300
And will be purchasing the stroker kit, evo III turbo, timing gears, valves, retainers/springs from dsm (about 3400 total)

Can I get some input?

Thanks! That's awesome!
Ok great!
I just realized (Duh) that I will probably need some fuel mods.
I'm not sure what can hold up on those engines.
Obviously I'll need bigger injectors, but will i need a better fuel pump? fpr? Fuel rail?
Like I said before I plan on getting an Evo III turbo from dsm. With the stroker kit, and the valve train upgrades I would hope to run in the higher boost range for that turbo.
Also where's a good place to get trans rebuild kits? I would be looking for something above oem quality.

you won't need nitrous for that. all you need is a 14b, small 16g, big 16g, evo III 16g turbo, 550cc injectors, 190lph fuel pump, AFC or DSMLink, 3" turbo back exhaust, boost controller............done. these engines can handle 350hp all day and be very happy doing it

So your saying it would be over kill to build the engine up?
hmm.
Heck this one
97 6 Bolt
Is looking better each day.

Some new injectors, Fuel pump, dsm link, new dp and exhaust, wideband...

What do you think?
Seems to good to be true....
I'm not going to lie I wanna buy it like right now....

Nice catch.
It probably has wiring problems like whoah.

This TSI Looks like a good deal also.

Then I'de do my origional plan. swap in a 6 bolt, evo III turbo, DSM stroker stage II kit, Valves, selas, retainers, cam gears, boost controller, wideband, dsmlink....

Is any of this overkill?
I wonder what my final price tag is going to be for the car and parts. Ide like it to be under $7500

There's no reason for you to do valves, a stroker kit, cams, or even swap in a 6 bolt. You can easily just do all supporting mods ( FMIC, Exhaust, Intake) Then throw in a evo 3 16g turbo, boost controller and gauge, a wideband, 255 fuel pump, 660 injectors, and a safc. You could probably pay for the entire car plus the mods and spend 7500 and then get somebody to tune it if you don't know how to. That'll put you over 300hp depending on how much you set the boost to. BTW these motors can handle up to 25 psi safely.

Thats noot always true. That depends entirely on the turbo.

on the evo 3 16g you can push up to 25 psi pretty safely............you'll just be cutting your engine's life a little bit. That'll get him over 300 hp which is how much he was asking for in his first post.

Ok so as it turns out, I will have $13000 for this project in total.
My college buddy is a ase mechanic who recently did the install for my turbo kit on my cavalier. I have friends who can tune HDSMlink And Hondata (Might be similar?)and Hp Tuners. My goal is to make a solid build with decent hp. But over all I want a solid reliable build. So just buying an eclipse with 100k+ miles on the engine and trans and putting a bigger turbo and fuel system is out of the question.
Is my aim out of my budjet?
My gf seems to think that I tend to underprice builds....
So this is my precaution. I need to re-affirm myself, because I cannot go above $13,000

bring me the $13000 and I will hand you a car that will make you shit your pants.

so the question of , "is my aim out of my budget?" needs an answer that simply rewords the question, "your budget is out of your aim."

that TSI doesn't look too bad but he says that he has winter wheels and tires with it. that would make me want to check the car up and down for rust. it has a good start with an exhaust system, but the new trans and clutch is slightly scary but not enough for me to cut bait. I would buy it.

so:
car - $3000 after talking him down $200
Taxes/tag/title (based on PA laws) - $240
engine build - $2500 (roughly)
Other mods - $2200 (roughly)

Total - $7,940 and you can probably do it even cheaper than that. my guesses were based on buying new parts, not used. It's also without labor for anything so factor that in and you might be around $11,000.

but like I said, buy that TSI, bring me the car with $10,000 cash, come back in about 3-6months (machining takes a while) and drive away with a NASTY fwd talon
