Hi.
I have had my carisma 1.8 gdi for over two years now
and have come to the conclusion that it runs smoother and pulls stronger
with esso super plus.
i have tried optimax a good few times and cant see what all the fuss is about.
On taking out the plugs after using optimax they were well carboned up..

Use castroel Magnatec 5w/30

Hope this helps.

Hi superbirdgdi,
Thanks for the reply and I will stick with Esso as thats what I,ve always used although not the super one just 95 ron.It was you saying that the plugs had carboned up that made my mind up against optimax. Also thanks for telling me you used Magnatec as that was really what i wanted too use.So thanks again.

Hi Again.
Try and use the esso super 97ron.
using 95ron speeds up the carbon build up.

Also when i renewed the air fillter i replaced it with a k&n.
The engine feels a bit sharper and seems to keep the throttle body
cleaner as well.

Chas1937.
ps. I remember way back there was a jingle on tv saying,
The esso sign means happy motoring with the tiger and you used to get tigers tail to hang on car
