My 1994 galant exhibited overheating and it consumed oil.
I sent it to a garage where they top overhauled and at the same time the timing belt was replaced.

While the overheating and the oil consumption had been solved. New anomaly came up. The engine suddenly stops. After this the engine can still be started but cannot rev up.
I must then wait for quite few minutes and re-start. After than then it is ok.

Anyone out there who knows this? please help!

After wait a few minutes , does the engine operate normaly? can rev up and everything , or is it not have the same power? Im not sure , has the timing belt not been adjusted tight enough , maybe it has moved a couple of teeth off frum where it is spossed to be at.

When it stop , does it just stop running , or loose power and then stop?

after a the sudden stop, The engine can be started immediately. It runs normal at idle but when the gas pedal is pushed, the engine stops.

After few minutes ( 20-30mins), the engine is Ok. Can Rev Up, same power before it stop.

When it is stop it loses power and stop.

In a small way it sounds like their may be a fuel pressure issue. The fuel filter may also be clogged. What is happen is that if the fuel filter is clog up , the fuel pump is overheating after a while after having such a hard time to force fuel thru a restricted filter.

So yes it would restart and idle but not have enough fuel pressure to drive. After the fuel pump then cools down after a time and the debris clogging the fuel filter has settled it will drive til it repeats the same process. Check the fuel system pressure or the fuel filter

Oh! that could be a possibility. we will have to check that fuel pump. The mechanic might had ruled it out since the fuel filter was replaced last year.

The fuel filter could still have accumilated a lot of debris in that time maybe , but a failing pump would cause these issues also.

Fuel Pump is ok but the filter was clogged. Fuel tank was cleaned (quite dirty) so with the fuel line. New filter is installed. The car seems to be ok now. Thanks for the help!
