Well lately there's been a few things i've noticed about my 2002 lancer. here they are:

-It has a rough idle
-poor throttle response
-when moving at a constant speed the car will jerk forward or back for a split second frequently
-i'm getting not so good of gas mileage as usual

if anyone knows anything that will help with these please let me know, or how to fix them myself.

is it because of a faulty maf? vacuum hose to the throttle body? please let me know:)

thank you,

-steve

The problem you are having with the surging on the car should be taken care of under a factory recall. I have the same problem with my car they had to reflash the computer and then reset the throttle response. Call a dealer to see if the recall has been performed on the car.

i had the same recall. when i bought the car, mine is an 03, i think the dealer i bought it from said that it had not had the recall applied yet, so i took it to mitsu and it took maybe an hour. simple, i guess...

ok thanks guys. also, real quick, i was told, by a friend, that it was caused by an intake leak somewhere (either hose or gasket or whatever), and that i should get a smoke test done. do you think this is a possibility? or is it the ecu like you guys said...?
