so having bigger injectors pretty much moves up the max out point of the injectors so you can add or take away fuel throughout the rpm range and the afpr pretty much regulates how much pressure the fuel system has?

yes, that's part of having bigger injectors. the other part is the ability to have more fuel. When you add air (IE turbo) you also have to add fuel. Thats the biggest reason OEM injectors get over run. They are designed to deal with a specific level of air flow. Increasing the air flow past what they have been designed for they struggle to keep up.

the afpr, or fpr, is the ONLY reason a fuel pressure is maintained. if there was no regulator the pump would just flow fuel in a circle. It might build some pressure but not a whole lot. Think of it like a garden hose. you plug it into the faucet and turn it on. The water just runs slowly out of the end of it. But, if you put your thumb over the end the water squirts out. The reason is squirts is because your thumb is restricting the flow of the water. You can control how far the water squirts by how hard you press your thumb on the end, thereby "regulating" the amount of water that can escape. In doing so, you create a pressure build up in the hose. That's why is squirts, pressure is built up.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) it's not something many people think about when upgrading for a turbo. Too many people toss a FMU on their car from bad advice and then "cap" their MAP with a missing link or the FCD. Yea, their car will make power under wot and certain boost levels but if you can use these things to your advantage like a AFPR and a larger MAP sensor you can get better fuel mileage, better driveability, a better tune, safer fuel pressures, and more power.

from what i've seen, and I don't mean to bash them, but tuners has the worst 420a fuel building. I haven't been there for a while so things might have changed but that vid I posted in bohmans afpr post shows it all. that's what they all try to do and you can see how high that fuel pressure goes. as fuel pressure increases the pump struggles to provide enough flow. low flow = lean = boom

when I hit the highest hp level in my rs it was ONLY after I ran the afpr and gm 3 bar map. it took a while to get things right but it was 10000 times better than the fmu and missing link I was running. the only sad thing was the extra parts came from my buddy's SRT and he wanted them back after the dyno. I never got to finish things and sold the car (wish I still had it to get things finished right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ) I really do want another 420a car!

I don't right now. I'm heading to a junkyard tomorrow to look for exhaust pipe, I will see if I can find one. They are easiest to find on any of the supercharged gm's and usually go for $20 or less, depending on the junkyard. I've been trying to find a 3 or 3.3 bar but haven't had any luck yet.

thanks for the link but the GM 3BAR can be found for around $50. Even the AEM 5BAR is cheaper than that one. But i appreciate the help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)
