I had my first near-death experience today, and I feel truly grateful to still be alive... I was really scared I was going to die today for a split second.
I was running a bit late for work and so I was driving 70mph or so on the highway (2 lanes)... And I'm about to pass this black Chevrolet Cavalier around a very easy curve... He swerves into my lane, and I think "idiot, I'm going around the other side" and as soon as I change to the other lane, he swerves back into it! I have to hit the brakes hard and jerk the wheel to straighten the car... I felt the tires lose a bit of traction but they heated up a bit and stuck well. Thank goodness I bought new ones... He luckily moved back over quick enough because I would have hit him, and possibly kill us both, or swerved off the edge of the highway into a ditch and killed myself.
As I passed... I looked in the rear-view mirror to see two teenagers laughing like it was some kind of a joke. In anger, fear, and embarrassment, I really wanted to kill the driver but I would not gain anything from that... He started chasing me for some reason, but I lost him in the traffic. I got to work shocked and worried but okay...
Now my brake rotors are glazed with an oily purple shine again, and have some strange markings that make scratching noises... I have to replace them AGAIN.
Then to make things worse, I was pulling out onto one main road, carefully observing some useless whore in a white truck in the farthest lane over on the right approaching, so I pull out and turn left to hear screeching tires and a horn honking, then see her swerve back into the right lane.... She saw me coming and thought it was a good idea to make an unnecessary lane change toward me!? What the fuck? Is everyone out to kill me today!?

i had something similar to the second thing happen once, except i was making a left and they were in the right lane, had thier blinker on and were slowing down, so i looked the other way to see if it was clear and it was so i went. then my passenger started yelling at me that the guy changed his mind and wasn't turning anymore. i had to punch the gas to avoind him, crank the wheel to avoid t-boneing or side swiping the guy in the furthest lane, and straiten out the wheel to avoid swerving into oncoming traffic, all in my old bronco. needles to say i needed to change my underware and i now piss people of because i sit so long waiting to make sure its REALLY clear to turn lol. just so you guys don't think that i suck at driving this was about two years ago, within about a month of me getting my licence nothing recent

QUOTE (StevenWyman @ Feb 20 2009, 12:49 PM) I am actually really scared sometimes now...whenever i am passing someone I think of what happened, or pulling out onto a street I won't even do it until both lanes are clear now... yeah, there are some events you never fully get over. i was driving to work one day, and was on the outside lane with a big ass dunp truck on my left side. i was traveling a little faster than him (this was all in my old Talon) and as i was about even with the truck's cab, he changes lanes nicked my rear bumper, and spun me into traffic going the OPPOSITE direction. he obviously wasnt hurt, and i managed to come out unscathed with only bumper damage on the Talon; but now, every time im driving down the road, i dont like to have large vehicles to my left. it makes me very uncomfortable.

I am just instinctively scared to drive right next to any vehicle more than twice the size of mine.
