Hi

I have a 93 Mistubishi Mirage and am having trouble with it draining the battery quickly while turned off. It worked without problems a few days ago, but after driving it (in heavy rain) back home and parking it, it had flattened the next day. When jumpstarting the car, it seemed reluctant to start. After driving it a while, I parked it and turned the key off. Within the hour the battery was dead again. About a year ago the A/C stepper motor broke and caused a too low idling speed. Could this be related? I tested the fuses with a multimeter and found current running through the "Ignition Switch (IG2)" fuse, even with the key off. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

there could be a problem with the starter motor earthing

how old is the battery may have a faulty cell -- battery can have volts but no amps

could be a problem if the alternator wont charge to 14 volts (need a volt tester)

Thanks for your reply. Will probably take the car to a sparky sometime soon. It's not the battery cause I tried one from a working car and it drained that overnight too. The problem may be the alternator or startermotor earthing like you said, guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll post the problem back here when I find out, so other Mitsi owners with the same problem can benefit.

Cheers
