ok well i bought a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS recently and found out that the right front speaker is blown (especially with bass). with a VERY limited budget, i need to find some front speakers (might as well replace both) so far i like these Amazon - Blaupunkt GTx-652Also, my Infinity headunit keeps on turning its self off and on randomly. Im not sure if it has something to do with the antenna being broken. The motor works, its the actual antenna, its been snapped off. I want a new headunit too (one with an aux-in), as it will be an easier fix instead of finding out what's wrong with it. Crutchfield - JVC KD-R200One last thing, should/can I put a cheap standard antenna on my car? I will eventually replace it with a retractable one, but seeing as they cost alot more, it doesnt fit my budget. My only source for music is my Zune with an iRiver FM transmitter. The last time I used a cd was like 5 years ago, so I can care less about cd's and such. budget: less than $150 Here's my questions: 1. speakers, ok for now? (will upgrade in the future) 2. headunit, ok for now? (upgrade in future) 3. antenna, go cheap or wait? 4. can i bypass the amp? i would like connect all the speakers straight to the headunit. ^^^^ i heard of problems with aftermarket headunits and factory amp ^^^^ ps: I will be changing out all of the audio once i get more money. Will do all the speakers, headunit, amp and sub(s).

well duh! even i knew that. its a temporary solution though, until i get more money for a better system.
anyways, what about my last question?
4. can i bypass the amp? i would like connect all the speakers straight to the headunit.
is this simple or is an amp a requirement?

well, i'll tell you this now, blaupunkt is not a bad brand, what could be making your sound horrible is your factory amp, best way to by pass it, go to your local stereo shop, or even wallyworld, go buy some speaker wire, 100 foot of it, and re wire the whole car.
now the head unit, i wouldn't recommend anything lower then the kbapd89 ( if you care about sound ) also it has the best filters for JVC.
but if i was you i would move to Clarion, even to some indash dvds, (power acoustik, sound stream, ect. ) same companys, different logo. ( the adobe 5.1 is the best Sound Quality in the market. built in to the dvd players. )
your cheapest bet, is also to look on ebay, and craigslist, but if you care about warrenty and ect. i would go to your local stereo shop, might cost more, but you will get your moneys worth out of it.
Collin.

QUOTE (dusters16 @ Mar 8 2009, 06:38 PM) well duh! even i knew that. its a temporary solution though, until i get more money for a better system. if a ""Temporary"" replacement is worth $150 to you have at it.but, you say it will take you a couple months to make $350(an extra 200) think how long it will take you to actually make $350+ from nothing. like 6-7 months. and since cheaper usually means crappier in the car world you wont get much for a resale value, if it doesnt break while in your use. if i were you i would tough it out with the the system you have now and maybe find a job.(if you have a job get a different one making 350$ in 3 months is rediculously stupid). PS. i needed around $1100 for my complete audio system.(still needing hooked up) i toughed it out for 2 months and got what i wanted and i am happy i didnt get a ""temporary"" replacement cuz it would have took me even longer to get what i truley waited Pss: try sonicelectronix.com for cheap prices for good quality. PSSS: as for your headunit turning off i would go with collins suggestion and rewire your stuff. could just be two bare wires touching and overall shorting out your headunit.

hey i forgot i wrote this thread. anyways, i went ahead and got these speakers Pioneer-TS-G1642Rthis stereo JVC-KD-R200this dash kit Mitsubishi-Eagle-In-dash-Receiver-Kitand this harness Mitsubishi-Receiver-Wire-Harness----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- well i installed it myself with help from this thread (post #9) and website for wire diagrams/labels. the speakers - i used the Crutchfield install instructions to get the doors off (not that hard) the dash kit wasnt to hard, but make sure to cut the correct tabs. i didnt mess up at all. i used a saw, similar to a hacksaw, to cut the tabs off. i did have some issues. - the tab where the front of the sub-console screws near the stereo (right side)...broke. so it still works, its just only half of the outside hole is there. - wiring sucked. i didnt used the harness because it didnt have the right connections. - my stereo only has 1 set of pre-outs so i couldnt used the amp adaptor. w/e, i just took the amp out. 3 wires i did not use when wiring everything together - Dimmer - Black/Yellow - Illumination - Green/White - Antenna Trigger (pwr ant) - White/Black my stock antenna was broken so i got a $10 short fixed one at autozone. btw i just used those twist caps for keeping the wires together. it works for now and when i go to install a better system, i can just untwist and the wire is ready. now for some pics: before with the stock stereo, that kept turning on/off (IMG: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/dusters_dark_knight/IMG_3044.jpg) now with the JVC and dash kit (IMG: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/dusters_dark_knight/IMG_3054.jpg) and the cheap antenna (IMG: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/dusters_dark_knight/IMG_3048.jpg) and a good sexy pic of my freshly clean car. most likely i will not keep it, but get a nice dvd flip out one. im currently researching what i can put together for a new headunit, maybe component speakers (these are the best right?) and probably just one 10" sub. if i can find a way to put it underneath the top when its down, and waterproof it, then i would like it there. if that cant happen then i want to put it in the pocket on the right hand side of the trunk, in an enclosure that can be made for that area. hopefully my budget for the future project can be between 1500 and 2500, depending on the quality of parts.
