I have acheived as high as 34mpg on the highway at 60 with my 2.4, but it does render a slightly disappointing average of between 24.5 and 26.5. I would have expected 29 or so with a 3080lb car and a 4 cyl. Guess automatics really suck the gas mileage and power out of an engine

2002 galant 2.4 auto (wifes car) bought it with 30K on it.

I think I've gotten 32mpg on a long trip but around town its avg is about 25-28mpg. I had hoped for better but I guess I'm not going to complain to much. I've got right at 80K on the ODO and so far I've only needed these things.

set of tires.
front brake pads
and I also fixed the famous heater control motor

I have achieved as high as 37 on the interstate in my '02 on a cool morning, and as low as 22 avg. during heavy commuting. The last place I lived, I averaged 26mpg, which isn't too bad, but certianly could be better. I'm currently averaging 22.5, so I might have to check that everything is inflated and all correctly. I think these cars have significant rolling resistance or maybe the tranny isn't as efficient as it could be because it certianly is SMOOTH! Donno, but I know it could be better being that it is really light for a midsize
