Hi my mums 2002 1.9 Diesel Carisma is extremly sluggish, and has no acceleration at all, even with your foot flat to the floor.

Recently the car went into 'safe mode/limp home mode' and speaking to people we were told the replace the air flow meter. Which we did. This improved the performance greatly from what it was like in 'limp home mode' but the car is still extremely slow and un-responsive.

It went on a local mechanics diagnostic machine today and gave fault code: "DF094 Thermplunger relay memory open circuit / or short circuit to earth"

I'm not even really sure what the thermplunger is - can anyone confirm what it is and what it does (and whether it would be causing the symptoms)?

Also are there any other likely causes for this serious lack of power?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

put some injector cleaner in (redex) worth a try !!
