Hi, new to this, but can someone please tell me if it is a big job to change timing chain in a 4g54 motor. example do i need to remove head and sump or just one of these and are there any little quirks that is common doing this job? my mechanic has told me to supply new chain and tensioners and timing cover gasket and thats all. i thought if it needs head or sump removeal then i would need those gaskets as well, also he told me about six hour job. thanx in advance to all who answer and offer advice.

It is quite an operation mate, bit of a bugger to get the timing case out with the head torqued and all. so probably be better to take all the offending articles out, and gain some insight to the condition of the motor...
