I am trying to upgrade the rear speakers on my 2000 Galant GTZ and I read that the speaker sizes in the rear are 6x9. I was trying to get 6x9 speakers from Crutchfield and they advised me that 6x9 do not fit in the rear deck. I want to know if anyone installed 6x9 in their 2000 Galant or put a different sized speaker and what type (brand/model) they put in it. I am dying to replace the speakers and hope anyone could help me or give me ideas in replacing/upgrading them. Thanks.

they were pullin' your chain....I just installed (2) Alpine(250W) 6x9's in my 01' galant...the only thing to keep in mind...is the clearance from the magnets on the speakers..and the long thin trunk hinge.BE CAREFUL!! If you could help me with my head unit problem that would be great...look at my Need Help w/ head unit post!! THX...PS....there are 6 1/2's in the doors...and if you have a speaker in the front top dash....it's a 3 inch.

Yeap, exactly the same problem happened to me; installed Pioneer ts-a6980r instead of my original ones, now, both trunk hinges are in touch with speakers (I guess that's why they don't sound "awesome")... dunno, getting Infinity speakers now, they are a little shallow...
