Hi Guys

Just want to know if you can buy those plastic expansion plug type things that hold the plastic parts to the metal parts. Such as the underbody splash guards to the chassis, or the air filter induction nozzle to the front radiator support.

The plastic expansion things work with a plastic phillips headed countersunk screw that pushes into the plastic bushing, expanding it and retaining your plastic part. To remove you unscrew the phillips headed screw and pop the plastic part.

Done some work and had to destroy a few as I couldn't get the plastic screw out, lost a few, you know how it goes?

Do you have to scrounge a wreckers yard, go to a Mitsu Dealer, or there is aftermarket available? as I know my kids commodore has a number of these things too...

Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

For that kind of thing, it's quite rare that a Mitsubishi dealer who has a large or well-known spare parts emphasis to it, wouldn't have it. They surprisingly have all the plastic clips going back to even the late 80s. Call them first though, and remember that not all genuine Mitsubishi dealers (i.e. the ones that only sell new Mitsubishis) care much for spare parts. They should tell you which one does in your area though so you can call them.

You can even get boot decals, small molded carburettor hoses and sway bar brackets from the first generation Magnas at these places, which is amazing. They just get the stuff from the warehouse either that day or a few days later if its interstate. A lot of the stuff they also have in stock out the back.

For some reason, plastic clips is one of their specialties but they don't sell screws and nuts and bolts.

Thanks for the input guys!

These little plastic plugs are a great idea as they allow vibration etc. to be isolated between the parts, so the plastic doesn't crack under stress as it's allowed to move laterally - not locked down as in the 'old days!'

Anyway - I'll do some research and hopefully post my findings soon.
