The idea of turbocharging the 1.8 started back in 2001 when I bought the car at the age of 14. The project didn't take of till about 2005 when I bought my SRT-4 which took over the daily driver position. That's when the challenge began, Since there's absolutely no aftermarket for the 1.8. After months a research I found a few companies willing to make custom parts for the 1.8. I ordered all the parts needed to build the motor. After getting all my parts the machine shop was a bit hesitant to bore my motor .060 over but I talked them into doing it. It turned out fine. The machine shop was very impressed with my port work on my head that he was asking me to work with him lol. After a few months of tinkering I got the car running. After tuning the car I had problems holding headgaskets under boost. I went through about 3 head gaskets in 2 weeks. I later took the car of the road do to financial issues. Now I'm tweaking the car hoping to get all the power potential out of it.

What I'm looking to pass. This guys 1.8 made 320whp with minimal mods. I'm hoping I can make more then that.

The restoration portion of the project. Yes I have the 4G37 in a AWD chassis and No the car is not going to be AWD.

Removed the gas tank to clean up and paint.
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/020.jpg)

All Painted just need a few more coats and I still need to fix the tank studs.
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/001-24.jpg)

Next on the agenda is refurbishing the rear subframe and suspension components.
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/002-22.jpg)
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/003-20.jpg)

The underneath rear of the car is started to look empty. Still need to rip out all the fuel and brake lines and redo them with SS line and SS Braided Hose. I also started removing the surface rust from underneath so I can undercoat the whole thing.

Got the rear upper and lower control arms done. A few coats of paint, New ball joints, New OEM bolts, and Energy Suspension control arm bushings. The arms are as good as new. The sub-frame and trailing arms should be done by the weekend. All I gotta say is Rustoleum FTW I love this stuff.

(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/002-23.jpg)

Rear suspension is pretty much buttoned up.

Got the fuel system done this weekend -6AN feed and return line. Don't have pics of the lines installed since its hard to get a good shot.

SS braided line and black -6AN fittings. Along with some new tools I bought to keep my fittings looking nice.
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/001-28.jpg)

The must need tools if you going to do a lot a AN work.
(IMG:http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/003-22.jpg)

I got the exhaust on just need to weld a hanger on the muffler but the rain put a stop to that. I'll get that done when the weather clears up. I love the look of the muffler looks kinda stock.

Rained all day today. Finally got a break in the weather late this afternoon. I jumped on the weather opportunity and got my down pipe finally finished. Don't mind the band clamp it's gonna get a v-band I just didn't have any more.

Well I ditched the copper gasket and went back to OEM. I also added a set of ARP head studs hoping that will solve the problem.

Hockey Pucks FTW!!!

I was originally going to go with Avid Racing Front and rear mounts. After getting a quote of $225 I scraped that idea. I had some hockey pucks laying around and they fit perfectly.

You filled your stock mounts using hockey pucks? I dunno if that's genius or rice...but if it works, more power to you!
