I am thinking of getting a used endevour . i have a car needing some work with 120k and i want to replace it with a 2WD endevour for 13-15. i test drove one last weekend and came away impressed.
07 with 25k. When braking their was a thumping feeling. Its a warped rotor or alignment. But due to the weight i am thinking rotor. Is it a common problem ?.
I wanted one in 04 but was scared away by the first year bugs. so i am thinking a 06 and above will be a good deal.

The vehicle i compared to was the pilot but after reading the transmission failure on 03-05 models [ which fall in my price range ] and honda charging 4k to fix it i am really lost intrest in these.
i researched in honda forum and edmunds. Its like its one or 2 but a tonne of these guys are trying to get honda to issue a recall similar to the one in the acura`s few years back where you a free transmission and warranty.

This is my first SUV. I avg 1000 miles a year [ I put 1500 miles on my bicycle and 8000 miles on my motorcycle -ride train to work ] and maybe with this car i can see me and my wife using this a bit more than our 08 camry so maybe 5k miles a year.

1)How are the 2WD Suv in snow. I live in North east never had an suv and never got stuck in a car so i am not sure i will get stuck in a Suv with more clearance .

2)MPG

3)Any issue towing a trailer with a motorcycle or house stuff

4)How long do tires last - in case i buy with miles on tires

5)Can i run 87 . i have a high compression engine in my motorcyle and i run 87 get 50 mpg and it will do 0-60 in 4 sec and tops at 141 mph on my gps. no way this engine is stressed as much my motorcyle on a track day flogging yet i see premium.

6)Can i do the maintenance and is it easy..

To much $$$ for the 07 Endy, I just did a KBB and the highest I would pay is $12k given the information on KBB.com.The brake issue should not be a big deal and if it's more than a warped rotor you still have 3/36k warranty. They have stopped producing the Endeavor so the value is going to sink even more than they do already. I have an 04 Endeavor 2WD with 105k and only minor minor issues during that time except for now that I think it has a vacum leak but that is an age issue not a quality issue. Mine is an early 04 so I did not get the traction control as those 2004.5 and up did, only traction issues is if I take off to fast during rain or sleet after that its like a tank. I think that if you could get an 06-08 for around 10k-12k and under 30,000 miles you did good, the 2wd is good but I would suggest finding an AWD just a matter of opinion and if I could do it over I would have gotten an AWD just for the piece of mind. I would go for it considering your circumstances, you can pull up to 2000lbs in 2wd 3500 with AWD and I would have a transmission cooler installed with the Hitch if not so equiped. There has been a back and forth on the premium use for the Endeavor, some swear yes some swear no, MY OPINION is regular is fine (Since the Endeavor is sold in my home of PR premium is hard to find and there are Endeavors on every corner). My endeavor is in the states and I use regular for the most part and I have had not mechanical or effeciency issues on my Endeavor. The only maintenance I have not done myself are the Spark Plugs and Timing belt & Water pump everything else I have done myself. When I bought my Endeavor in 04 I had considered the Pilot and Highlander, at that time the Tranny's on the Pilots where blowing up and the Highlander was to small and overpriced the comfort and value with the Endeavor could not be beat. Also if you drive the Endeavor modestly I have been able to squeeze 25MPG overall out of her by just taking off from a light modestly and keeping her under 70MPH on the Highway. Good Luck!

Hello there,
i recently bought an early 04' xls with 64k miles for $6000 on ebay without even seeing it. I'm super happy with it, it's a tank!

Regarding gas, there is plenty of discussion on the matter in this forum. I personally tried regular, medium, premium and 94 octane, and do not notice any minor if any difference. Of course there is, but basically you'll be fine with regular if you are not packed to the brim demanding the engine, then you would need premium. i drive in a busy downtown core, and i'll be lucky if i get 14-15 mpg. On the highway at least 21-22mpg.
i guess that is the price of driving a tank.

There's one on every corner in your area? I live in Washington state and you rarely see them around, I love it that they are not every where cuz they are unique and even more so when I feel like I'm the only one that has one. They are so rare up here that when searching to buy one, there was one on a lot 30 miles from my home and the next closest was 300 miles away. I bought the one that was 30 miles away cuz it had much lower miles, and the color I wanted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi everyone!
I bought used Endeavor 2005 a month ago. Black, XLS, AWD, with 43000 miles on it.
So far so good, it feels great to drive it. No mechanical issues inherited from the previous owner.
I had a few post deal questions for him, i called him a couple weeks later ( as he have kindly suggested) but he did not return my calls. Well, the car is sold, the car is good, no complaints, he does not have to be nice...
This forum is great, thanks to all for mostly thoughtful inputs.
Now,I want to share what I would like to change or improve in my car.
The door panel( with locks and switches) squeeking terribly when touch it with my leg. I have a simple solution for this. I do not touch it with my leg.
Next, some annoying sound can be heard from the seat belt upper mount area, I do not know what it is. The window glass? Well, I can live with that.
Now the most serious. Yes, the same hissing/whistling sound ( I think "hissing" describes it the best) coming somewhere underneath, heard in 5-10 minutes after the engine starts, increases with acceleration at above 40 miles an hour, decreases when I slow down.
Yes, I have read about propeller shafts which should be replaced in order to elleminate that hissing.
and I am gonna call a dealer soon about this. The car is under warranty until next summer so I hope my only expense would be the gas money for a drive to a dealer ( or I am wrong)?)
Next, after strong and pouring rains I can see a little paddle on the floor in the cargo area, very little, and I could not determine from were exactly it was leaking. It's seen onthe right side, very close to the back door.
It is of no importance, I can live with that too.
Interestingly, the previous owner told me that he installed ( or ordered the installation, do not remember) a speed chip to increase the power. It is attached to the engine block, a size of a lighter. I did not ask the specifics and hge did not ellaborate. Now I am curious all of a sudden....
Overall, I happy with the car.
Car was customized by a previous owner (the grill was installed to cover that shameful hole looking like toothless mounth),.
I do not like the fact that I cannot open gas tank lid excluselively from inside the car.
Car's muffler and axis are easily seen from the outside,I am puzzled with that obvious flaw but I heard that is fixed already by Mitsu....
I owned Diamante and it was a very nice and pleasurable experience.
Hopefully, Endeavor will keep me a happy as well.

Same on my '06. I took it to the dealer twice. They said there was nothing they could do about it.

As for the leak in the cargo area, I had a tiny leak where the rear wiper went into the rear glass. I only knew because of some light marks on the cargo cover and some white powdery stuff around the bolts holding in the wiper thing. Anyway, the dealer paid a water proofing company to take care of it under warranty.

KBB doesn't sell or buy cars. They sell advertising. To stay in bussiness they have to be well above what the actual values are in order to keep people looking at their sites.

I don't use KBB as my only reference; However, I start with their pricing, then I go to classified ads with both retailers and individuals asking prices, finally I go to ebay and see what they have available and what sold to come to my own conclusion.

Also, it has come to my attention that the information regarding the end of the Endeavor's production is wrong. I had read that they where going to cease production but if you go to Mitsubishicars.com you can see that they have again updated the Endeavor slightly and are now selling '09 models.

Darn, a 2010 Endeavor. I figured the 08 where one of the last, I'm jealous. Major upgrades from the older endeavor but hopefully some of these accessories will available for the older models esp. the rear view camera, bluetooth, but damn, a 650 watt system (I only got 250? watts in my 07).

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, the third brake light cracked, I knew it but the crack is on the right side and water gathers on the far left side. Anyway, I am going to replace the part and we'll see what happens.
Strangely enough, I have a neighbor who also owns endeavor and he has the same part broken but he did not ever spot any leaks.
The noices really starting to annoy me..... The radio helps....

Hi, everyone
Just returned from a dealer. I'll be brief.
The hissing (whistling) sound that is coming underneath after 10 min of driving at 40-45 m/h.
The mechanic at dealership said that he is 90% sure that it is not drive shaft (propshaft bearings). What he is thinking is that the grill customarily installed could be the culprit. Never came across anything like that in the forum.
Any suggestions and opinions will be appeciated. Have anyone experienced any noices with the front grill installed?
Thanks.
