I have a 2002 Eclipse with a 16" OEM rims and tires. i Have a DE model Lancer and this evening, i switched the rims and tires to my de from the Eclipse. and after driving it around the freeway, this warning "SERVICE REQUIRED" pop'd out in my dash, i was like "that's weird". did this happened to you guys? i mean the eclipse tires and rims are the same., it perfectly fitted in my lancer, but im wondering i really do need a service from the dealership to be done. but can u guys please explain this warning to me please?

you have to swap the tire pressure sensors from the stock wheels to the new ones

Like Will said, the TMPS is probably the part to blame. I highly doubt that the 02 Eclipse had any TMPS system, and even if it did, it's probably different from the Lancer's TMPS system. If you are 100% sure that there is no other issue with the Lancer, it's probably ok to ignore the warning light but it won't do you any good if you have a real issue and the car is trying to warn you but you think it's the TMPS.. so it's a risk..

Regards.

you are probably getting just low tire pressure warning, just ignore it. It doesn't worth the cost of new pressure sensors.

Id-10-T error

make sure the rims you installed have TPMS sensors and then have them programmed to the vehicle, (will have to be done by dealership)

If you put the old rims back on make sure the left front goes back on left front etc. or else you will still have to re-program the TPMS system

the service required light on the lancer comes on at 7500 miles or 6 months
and it means its due for its service NOT just an oil change either...
its probably coincedence that it came on

i dont think the de came with tpms either ..
your lucky if u even have a/c on a de..

cuz if it did.... the low pressure light (looks like a tire with a exclamation mark in it) would come on and the one that says TPMS would both be on

Holding the INFO light for a few seconds does turn the message off, although the indicator light and a warning triangle both appear on the dash. This is an annoyance for sure, but it is better than looking at a yellow "Service Required" message. My question is: If I ignore this message by holding the INFO button, will this also ignore any further warnings for other problems? My worry is that if I continue to ignore the message, then a real error will occur and I will not get any sort of warning.

You will get a different warning message for any engine related issue.
