Hi out there! Car: Lancer Wagon 1,6 GLXI 1993 CAOW Three weeks ago my Lancer just stopped. The guy from the road patrol (ADAC) checked really a lot: Said it was the engine ECU. I took the ECU home, simulated the car: everything fine. Result: there was no signal from the crank angle sensor from the distributor. I got a renewed distributor: the engine worked like a dream. Two weeks later: After about 5 miles the engine stopped working. I checked for loose connectors ...: nothing. 5 Minutes later the engine started without any problems. 5 miles later: ... engine not working! 15 minutes later: still not working!
Called the road assistance guys again: arrived after about 45 minutes: engine started and runs without problems.
Today: On my way home I to interrupt the journey (total: 10 miles) three times (engine just stopped). Each time (after waiting about 5 minutes) it was working again. I tried applying coolant spray to the distributor: I think the time before starting again was reduced but I am not sure about this.
When I got the renewed distributor I turned it by hand: I think there was much more friction compared to the old distributor.
Question 1: any ideas?
Question 2: Does the distributor include something like a thermal fuse / shutdown?
Thanks for Your help in advance!
Peter
