QUOTE(patsevo8 @ Apr 25 2005, 03:56 PM) You know I really don't want any friction. I am just stating the fact's as I know them and as I witnessed them. All it takes is a good driver. If you're all stuck on the speed thing. Tell me why a EVO took 2nd place at the " ONE LAP OF AMERICA." i agree completely here... this one is almost all driver's skill. yes the srt-4 has more horsepower, but HP means about the equivalent of crap in racing. the srt4 is also considerably heavier, ive driven both a stock srt4 and a modded one that could run 12's obviouly the modded one was fast but it was still sluggish and heavy feeling above 80mph. mfgr stat's state the neon to be faster in the 1/4 but this is with professional drivers... so to reiterate, its all in the driver's skill. i smoked a C5 manual by about 4 cars in the 1/4 cuz he couldnt drive for crap. (of course, im pretty well modded and have about as much bhp as he does anyways :P ) but my final thought to end my rant is... who gives a crap? race 'em if u win, congrats, if u lose, u have motivation to make ur car faster and/or become a better driver

QUOTE(patsevo8 @ Apr 26 2005, 01:55 PM) That is one ugly power/torque curve. Byno's don't lie so I rest my case. :) I am just going from going to dyno days and seeing 6 SRT's pulling the most @ 196whp that was completly stock. sorry, hate to disagree here but dyno's do lie.. i've dyno'd with the same configuration at 290bhp and at 226 bhp, and it was colder and slightly less altitude with the lower numbers, again same configuration... now the best way (most accurate) to see ur true horsepower is to run a 1/4 mile and ur trap speed over the distance tells u what kind of horsepower is necessary for various weights. believe it or not, a lot of dyno operators cheat their dyno's up by as much as 20% to satisfy the customer because a higher dyno number means higher satisfaction and a bettter chance that the customer will return. oh and btw, the calcuator's say that my hp is in the 310 range, since my race weight was 3080 lbs and i trapped at 105.

QUOTE(bharsen @ Sep 21 2005, 08:45 PM) srt-4 would win i think, of coarse im an 18 year old punk thats still learning about racing, but then again thats why i entered this forum to learn more about my new car (2006 eclipse gt). and from the info ive gathered off of other sites the eclipse your going to get closest to srt-4 stats would be the one i just bought but again im not an expert im just repeating things but the site that i go to (modernracer.com) says it competes with the best of them, rx-8, 350z, porshe boxter, and 2003 srt-4's just to name a few. please, please, please tell me that you are paying for your own car. i'm not a big Mitsu fan at all. i love DSM's and i have a lot of respect for Evo's but the new GT is far too nice of a car for an 18 yr old to drive while being paid for by mommy and daddy and "competes with the best of them, rx-8, 350z, porshe boxter, and 2003 srt-4's just to name a few." dude, im not flaming you and dont mean to be offensive but if that's ur idea of the best of them you need to learn how to read. case in point: 2003 Mustang Cobra... 390bhp for around $38k (much cheaper than the pathetic VoPo that someone had the audacity to call a porsche) it runs 12's straight outa the box.

Byno's don't lie so I rest my case. :) I am just going from going to dyno days and seeing 6 SRT's pulling the most @ 196whp that was completly stock. Everyone has to remember that there are differences in dyno numbers other than just air temp and elevation. The srt4's that patsevo8 saw were probably on mustang dyno's. Mustang dynos register much lower numbers than a dynojet dyno and are actually more accurate. Dynojet dyno's have been known to register more than 20 horsepower higher than a mustang dyno using the same exact car. Just my .02 Oh yea and if you don't believe me just read for yourself on www.sportcompactcarweb.com look for an article all dyno's are not created equal.
