Hello

Recently when applying brake, the hydraulic booster started making noise. This noise comes from the Power Brake Booster. My dealership has come with this part number MN116391.

I have hit this number in google but all replies are in russian or japanese. My dealer is charging me roughly 1,000.00 US in parts, and I feel this cost is expensive.

Has anyone have had to service and / or replace this booster? It seems to me that this p/n is for the whole booster. Is it possible to get parts and rebuild it istead?.

http://www.akadia.ru/_pages/mitsubis...x8YTI9PTAyMTAx

If I search MN116391 (p/n given by dealer) I get the above response, and it looks like the whole assembly. The vibration happens whenever I apply brakes, no matter how light I may brake. The noise and vibration comes from an accumulator like assembly, which is indicated as p/n 54243 54282B

Any help regarding this mater will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

in america, there is a recall on that.

you will probably need to replace only the nitrogen accumulator, which ruptures. Does your truck make a noise that sounds like a spring bouncing? if so, your accumulator is probably all you need. and all 2001-2002 USA monteros should have a recall (actually, two recall) on that item.

I want to thank everyone who posted answers to my problem. Indeed I found out the P/N for the accumulator, ordered the part and I just replaced it yesterday.
Everything in fine now, and now I can drive my Montero after two weeks of having it grounded.

Hi Joel,
I have a '01 Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) (Based here in Ireland) and I'm experiencing the same problems with Braking as you did...
I'd spoken to my nearest Mitsubishi Dealer who quoted me €3,500 to replace the whole braking system, but then spoke to a local mechanic
who specializes on Truck brakes.. he told me it looks like the Accumulator sphere needs replacing? there's a chirping noise and a slight vibration
everytime I press the breaks.... he reckons the Nitrogen gas has either depleated or the Diaphram within the accumulator is having issues...

I've been told initially to Replace the Braking Accumulator Sphere... should resolve the issue?

Could you let me know where you ordered the replacement Accumulator (was it online) I can't seems to source it?!? the only sites I've
found are in Russian (I think) and unfortunately... I'm not very good with Russian :-)
Also, did you have much trouble replacing it?

Thanks in advance...

David.
