...you driving in salt alot or something?

I'm up in New England - New Hampshire. I haven't driven the car in the winter, but I got it up here last year - somone did.

My engine temp guage showed a noticably lower temp today on my commute. The oil pressure has been stable too...

My new radiator is actually out of an older car - a 93. It was definetly a replacement - seems like new....

The newer radiator had two extra sensors in the bottom of the radiator, tied into the same harness as the passenger-side fan. (I noticed this after bolting the radiator in because I couldn't hook up the wires - had to swap the fan too. I noticed plus in the senor locations on the old radiator. It's strange, because my part car was also an NA, just two years older.

i'm hoping this got somethings across.

cars start degrading after a while (60K starts for your belts)

i think it would be smart to check all your belts, all your fluids (power steering/brake) i think you said you already did your tranny
your also going to want to check out your airfilter, fuel filter. just all your regular parts that wear over time.

This car has transmission problems - I've been holding off on that.

I don't know when the timing belt was done. I've inspected it and it look 'ok' - I'm gonna try to make it to 240,000. If she's still going strong, and I'm still interested, I will get the 60K service + rebuilt transmission. That will call cost more than I paid for the car, so if my timing belt goes in the meantime *shrug*.

After taking that parts car completely apart last winter, I don't think I'd want to tackle the timing belt, and definely not the transmission, myself. It was hard enough, and I didn't have to put it all back together!

I've done all the stuff I can do myself like the air filter, fult filter, etc etc.

to be honest, i wouldn't touch the tranny. just like you said, your looking at putting a part on the car that is worth the same as the car its self.
get 240 out of her. then part out the good stuff once something big goes.

but to make sure she gets there do just like you said and keep up on the little stuff.

Well, I've put a few hundred miles on now.... I don't know what is what.... the de-gunker, the oil additive or (less likely) swapping my radiator out, but my car has been running awsome. The new radiator has made a noticable difference in temperature - wow.
