Hi Mark

Not to much information that you give us, What MJ is a 52 plate, I`m not familiar with UK Plates.

But a common prob on the K60 and K74 is the Rubber mounting on the left side of the gearbox, normally worn out after a while of time and can cause a rattling noise and some more side-movement of the shifter( if you have a manual tranny)

If this small paart is the one that causes probs you`d better go for a costum made upgrade.
I think there are some ideas in the net.

take care

Markus

Hi Mark

Sorry but gearbox parts are not easy to discribe in english (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
but I`ll try.: If your car isn`t moving and no gear is selected there are not to much moving parts inside the gearbox.
Mainly it`s the in german(Vorgelegewelle) that is the round metal piece where the cluch is mounted.

The first thing to look at would be the clutch disc, there are small springs mounted on it and they could cause a noise.
Normally if something is wrong with the bearings of the "Vorgelegewelle" the pilot-bearing is also worn out.
But this bearing is noisy when the clutch is pressed.

So Iwould go under the truck and try to hear where the noise comes from and then decide what to do.

If it comes from anywhere near the clutch you`d go for a new clutch and when disassembled you`r able to check the front intake bearing of the gearbox. If it is bad there will be oil inside the clutch housing.
And if you change the clutch don`t forget the pilot-bearing, that runs dry over the years and will get noisy.

But if none of my easy ideas will solve your prob.

Good luck with the gear box.

Sorry, but you found the far end of my scool english.

And now the same in german if you find somebody to translate.

good luck
Markus

Hi. Ive got a 2003 52 olate warrior and I have the same rattle issue with mine in that it goes when the clutch peddle is depressed. I've had three reputable garages look at it and all say it is the reverse idler gear. From what I understand this is a spring that slackens over time leaving play for it to rattle. It will not get worse or do and damage, it's a noise we have to live with.
