Hello,

The alternator belt tensioner for my Carisma 2002 DiD is wore out and causing the belt to come off/eat itself away.
I obtained a spurious part for it but the spring in the tensioner seems to be wound the 'wrong way'. The tensioner pulley is pushing the wrong way. The part is just about identical in every way with the part I took out of the car but it is of the opposite handedness (if you know what I mean)
The people in the shop are sure that this part is listed for my car. Part No. 55585K (can remember the maker)
Anyone any thoughts. They checked the part with a second part in case it was assembled incorrectly but it was the same.
Can anyone give me a part number for this part (spurious). I guess I could go the main dealers and throw in an arm(s) and a leg(s)
The engine is an FQ9. The car has no Air Conditioning. Would this make a difference to pushing direction of pulley?

What other models of cars have the exact same engine?
Renault Trafic (2002)?
Volvo S40 (2002)?

I may be able to purchase the part for these other engines if I knew the exact make and model.

Image of tensioner attached.
Any help appreciated.
JC
