Hello Forum: I have an 04 Endeavor with 75K on the clock. I have had it for almost three years with no problems at all. On my way back from Vegas to Los Angeles today I noticed that my cruise control is no longer engaging. The cruise control light in the dash does come on when turned on but when the lever on the steering wheel is pushed up to engage it does not hold the speed. Any ideas where I should start looking? Is there a fuse perhaps where I can start checking?? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks a million man, I had recently installed replacement brake lights but I installed LEDs instead. I went back to the auto parts and purchased some regular 1157 Bulbs and that did the trick, my cruise control is back in business. Wow, I am surprised as to how a bulb has to do with the cruise control but I am also happy at the same time!!

LEDs, if not equipped from the factory, are usually cheap, Chinese made junk.

you will be MUCH better off without them.

Because LED draw less current you have to add a resistor in parallel with LED to emmulate bulb current. This way your cruise will work and so will your LED cheap or not. But you will lose the warning from cruise control if you lose brake lights. If you lose brake lights because of brake switch your cruise will not engage warning you that you have no brake lights. Here is the diagram so you can better understand how it works. You will see on second page ( see post-it) where brake lights act as bleeder resistor for a voltage divider. When bulbs burn this voltage goes high because current can't flow through bulbs to ground. Then this high voltage is then translated into a disable cruise signal.
