Hey guys I havent posted for a while so I felt like I should update. I was having ALOT of problems with my lancer. the steering shook like mad and it wasnt balance, alignment, tires, rims or brakes.... we couldnt figure out the problem. Then while driving on the highway we hit 1 puddle in the road going about 45mph( due to rain) and the whole front end let loose on me and all control was gone and braking was shot. It was a very scary experience to go through especially with my mom in the car. I took it to mitsu dealer and they gave me some jive about me paying them to do a diagnostic on the car. I didnt agree with that cause the car only has 19000 miles on it and is still under factory warranty. I called mitsu direct and they were no help either. That was the last straw... I couldnt take the bs anymore so I made a decision to trade my car today. I went to a local car lot and drove away from my mitsu in a new Audi A6 3.2 Quattro fully loaded. Let me tell you what a difference that car is. I know its 2 totally different classes of cars and its like comparing apples and oranges but having driven them both now, its hard not to compare. GOD I LOVE IT!!!! I will try to get pics posted as soon as I can get them taken. I hope this doesnt affect my membership on mitsu-forums, as I would still like to offer any little advice that I can and share my general car knowledge with everyone.

Glad you and your mom are ok, thats all that matters.

Audis are very nice, i wish they still made the 2.7 biturbo or 3.2 bi turbo. The bi-turbo A6 had a statement "im mature, but im here to party" lol

Congrats on a new car - but note to self, driving an Audi is like dating a high maintenance hot blonde cheerleader - you'll find out on your own.

That's quite a jump from an econobox to an almost luxury car. Congrats! If I had that money to begin with I wouldn't have gone through a Lancer. Nothing bt problems with mine, not major problems but annoying as heck.

so youre saying you hydroplaned, and the lancer was difficult to control?

Shocking how a car may be difficult to control when it has no traction.
trust me, you're audi wont drive any better without traction.

you coulda saved a ton of cash and simply put some decent tires on the lancer (the stock tires on any model but the evo are pretty awful).

I was in a pretty nasty accident about 4 years ago cause i hydroplaned.... this was nothing like that so im pretty sure it wasnt hydroplaning although that would be the most reasonable explanation for the whole thing. this was more of a loose front end it wasnt necessarliy the wheels locking up and still sliding. but hey at this point im open to any explaination.

the reason for the change in the car wasnt really 100% cause of the problem because i have enough car knowledge to know that almost any problem can be fixed with a little time and know how and some cash. I mean that was part of the reason y I switched. another was the service dept was being totally anal about the whole thing. wouldnt even look at the car b4 i forked over the $55 diagnostic fee. I ve had exceptional service there b4 with no problems, infact ive had 3 mitsu. in my family over the years but for some reason that particular day they just wanted to push the wrong buttons. when you add that incident with the mechanical problems and the fact that i had a cvt and couldnt get much modding or the performance i wanted out of it without voiding the warranty or breaking the tranny, this seemed like the most logical move. but hey manny, if you ever come across a case like mine in the future keep me updated, ide really like to know if it was a specific prob i had or if its something that others should b worried abt. Tnx for you input on it.

As for FMP I will def be back except I will probably be going evo when i do return. I dont want to lose the audi so I will just wait a little while until I can afford to have both. lol

theres not much to say about the new lancers as far as problems go.

they arent breaking at all. A software update, and some tire complaints are about it.

Congrats on the Audi, they are nice........but....... they just don't have the looks the lancer does, there is just no wow factor. I will admit on a scale of 1 to 10 the quality of the lancer compared to comparable honda's or toyota's is about a 6 or 7, but the looks on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 20. The power and speed can be built into the lancer, but the audi will never look as good as the lancer, imo.

As far as problems, I can say except for the paint scratches and chips, after one year of ownership I have not had one single problem.

Your friends and family will all say you have a nice car, no doubt, but for example: today I went to the local walmart, when I came out an older woman and man were walking around my car checking it out, I thought that was cool. After that I went to the local grocery store, when I came out there were 6 people (yes 6) gathered around my car, their jaws on the ground with plenty of drool, lol. They were asking me all about it. Although the audi is nice, it will never have a crowd around it.

But as long as you like it, that's all that matters....congrats and have fun with it.

I actually remembered I did have a small problem. Twice the headlights either came on by themselves or the auto-off when you open the door did not work, cause the lights were on after I was away from the car for a few hours. Only happened twice in the winter and never again.

I cant fight that point ny. I do miss the wow factor. i miss driving down the street and watchin ppls heads turn cause of how it looks and sounds. but I dont mind just blending in either. I guess its just personal preference at this point. and you know what had that guy in the service dept not give me a hard time i would probably be in a rallyart right now but sad to say that my taste of mitsubishi has been tainted by that one experience. I guess its kinda like expecting nice cool crisp beer at the end of a hard day only to find that the one your drinking is stale and flat. It'll kinda make u think twice b4 u get that brand again. if that makes sense.

Ya, I know exactly what your saying, I'm the same way, one thing just taints my view or rubs me the wrong way and that's it, I move on to something else.
On the plus side you wont have anyone calling you a punk kid ricer anymore, lol (which we know happens). The audi screams sophistication. Enjoy it bro, it's a nice ride.
