Hi.

I have an 09 Lancer Es Sport, and I was wondering if there is a way for the Foglights to turn on with the DRL's.

I like my fogs on all the time, but don't like to turn the lights on, and then turn the fogs on separately. Is that possible?

If not, is there a way for my Fog's to be permanantly on w/ the my headlights. So the fogs come on with the headlights when I turn them on?

Thanks.

Adding onto Woody's question, would it be possible to convert the fogs to DRL's? I'm planning on eventually installing angel eyes and i think it would look sick to have the eyes and have the fogs on all the time instead of the low's.. thanks.

Regards.

cut the wires going to the fog lights and run new wires to a fuse in the fuse box that comes on when the ignition is turned on. more then likely you should be able to use the ignition fuse itself or the DRL fuse. its that simple.

not responsible for fire damage. but this should work.

Thanks, I've been waiting for a reply.

How would I run a wire into a fuse that is already being used?? How would I connect it, I don't really understand.

This wouldn't cause any issue in terms of warranty or anything right? Assuming whatever incident may occur had nothing to do with the wires being cut.

you would have to remove the fuse box and splice into the correct wires. if u do this and i causes a problem its gonna void your warranty.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Not sure if it's worth it though. Maybe if I had a How-to. I'm sure it's dumb easy, but I don't feel like voiding my warranty because I'm too lazy to turn a few switches.

I would like to know is it possible to just reroute the drl's from the low beams to the factory fogs? Is it a wiring thing or a programming thing or what?

You could probably splice that harness in a way to make it work.

So what they did there is just swap the wires from low beam to fog and fog to lowbeam using extension wires.
I guess that would work but up here in the great white north with all the snow and salt using the connectors they use after cutting the wires makes me leary. The factory connectors used on light assemblies have those rubber gaskets to keep out moisture, so I guess you could do that but to be safe at the least you would have to cover the connectors in heat shrink tubing to help prevent a future failure due to moisture or corrosion.

Here is what I did on 09 GTS with HID's. I've done this to both my previous cars with no problem. On the engine fuse box and remove the DRL relay. Run a wire, 12gage, from the DRL relay to the light fuse 15amp. Note which location on the relay to connect the wire. When complete use black electrical tape to cover relay location and close fuse. Your done. Now the fogs will come on when you start the car. Also when you shutoff the car there will be a 5-15 second delay before the fog turn off.

Cost: any (12gage) spare wire and 10 minutes of time.
Warranty? Just remove wire and replace relay and it's back to original setup and there is no trace.

Also:
Remove 15amp fuse in lower left to disable existing DRL.

Def not worth splicing wires when all you have to do is turn a switch

I think what is not being considered here is your car insurance. My ex-girlfriend was my insurance agent, I learned a lot about how these companies work. If you tamper with, disable, or modify in any way any of the safety features (drl's) on your car and you get into an accident, you will most likely not be covered if the insurance company finds out. If they see you rigged the electrical system and disabled the drl's good luck on your claim. I supposed you could put it back, but right after an accident that's probably the last thing on your mind or you just may not be able to do it. It's especially true if your getting a discount for having drl's, which most everyone does. If your getting a discount and you disable them, technically that's insurance fraud and you will not be covered, almost guaranteed.
If you get into an accident and someone gets hurt, then you get sued for say $100,000 and you find out your insurance isn't going to cover you because you pulled a fuse and ghetto rigged some wires, is it really worth it? Not to me it isn't. Just something to think about.

That would be a crappy insurance company. If you switch the wires to the fog lights and make them always on, they are then the DRL.
