Hi all!

I have a Carisma -99 Gdi 1.8 that has 170 000 km as now (i purchased it second hand not that long ago).
I was thinking to change oil, timing belt, spanner and idler since i dont know for sure the history of the car; but i was wondering if anybody knew what kind of "Service" mitsubishi dealers usually do at 180 000 km ...

Thanks in advance

Hello;
Good luck with the new car!

If you don't have a history for the car, then I'm sure that most people would recommend that you do an "everything" service, as you won't know if any of it has been done or not!

To me that means:
Engine oil & filter
Air filter
Fuel Filter
Pollen filter if fitted
Coolant drain/flush/refill
Brake fluid change
Timing and all other belts including tensioner
Spark plugs
Air con recharge if fitted
Gearbox oil check (and possibly change at that mileage?)
Strip and clean all 4 brakes

Can't think of much else, but I'm sure others can!!

If you have a GDi (I have the diesel) then have a look at the other posts on this forum, as some people have trouble with the throttle body and other parts. (Clogging up with carbon deposits.)

It might be worth examining it and possibly cleaning, but again others can help you more than me on this one.

All the best,

the 180000Km service is a little more than 100,000 miles and I know from the service manual that the hydrolic tappets (lash adjusters) are either cleaned or replaced. I replaced mine at 130,000 miles because they had colapsed and were making a tapping noise, iirc you have to take the cam tray off which means taking the cam belt off, so it's best to do this at the same time as a cam belt change. If you're not getting any tapping or ticking noises from the engine you might want to leave it becsue the process for cleaning them is long and hard and new ones are expencive (£157 GBP), however i dont regret doing mine because it sounds almost brand new after 140000 miles (225400Km).

its a manual; or auto gear box? The auto box will have a dipstick to check the colour and level. On the manual gearbox , there is a fill plug on the side case , above the drain plug , removing the fill plug a little fluid flow out. That is an indication that the fluid is full , if nothin flows out it may be low. But if a manual gearbox or auto and the fluid never been serviced it would be good to do so.
