i recently bought some 17" motegi racing rims...before i had stock tires and hub caps which were much smaller...however now with the new rims when i have people in the back seat my tires rub on the fender...Does anyone have any idea what i should do to fix this? has this happened to anyone before? would simply new springs that are not stock fix this...most springs i look up also lower the car...is it safe to lower the car still just a little? any help at all with my problem would be greatly appreciated

Stock tires on a lancer ES is 185/65-14...when you went to the 17" rims they should have 205/45-17 tires...did you get another size?

sounds like you need smaller tires. Putting on a set of aftermarket lowering springs will only make your problems worse. Also check the weight rating for the car. Not saying anyones fat or anything, but putting too much wight in the back can affect how much the car squats. Also, are the springs and shocks in front and back new or in good working condition?? Josh

yeah my car does have 100,000 miles on it haha...so it could just be that the stock shocks need replacement or something

how wide are your 17 in wheels? it could be that there to wide and you might have to roll your fender a little... or it might be how big your tires are on your 17in wheels like 96eclipsed was saying .. i have 17inX9in wheels and 205/40-17 would be my tire size and i have lowering springs and still no rubbing. so check your wheel width and/or tire size.

I had 215/35r/18 tires on my 03 Lancer ES when I had rims. And, I didn't have any rubbing in the back. So, I don't think it's your tire width. It must have something to do with the amount of weight put onto the back, and maybe bad struts like you said.
