Just wondering what the smallest size rims will fit on my gts? I am looking into getting another set of wheels for snow tires for the winter possibly 16's. Does anyone here swap out rims for the winter with some snow tires?

Yeah I noticed the lower end models came with 16's but wasn't sure if they would fit over our calipers. Now I just gotta start looking for some used rims so I can get some snow tires mounted up for the winter.

Hi All,
I am new here and it is my first post.
We have a 09 GT the stock size is 16". I am thinking of going down to 15". Anyone has tried that?
Also, I thought the offset of the wheel is +46mm.
Another concern about getting steel wheel is we will not get the Tire press sensor, it there any problem to the diagnosis system? I know the TPMS light will turn on but some posters in another Mit forum said even the SES light will be turned on.
Thanks.
Paul

If we can fit a 15" wheel, we can use higher aspect ratio .65. It saves a little bit of money and also gives better ride in bumpy snow Saskatchewan winter road.

QUOTE (KrUsHeR @ Oct 26 2009, 12:36 AM) If you are looking for good tire prices in town, call Value Tire on McDonald St. Thats where I got my winters tires. They were $350 cheaper than anywhere else in town and only $40 more than ordering off tirerack.com. What tires did you get and where you get your wheels? Dilari quote me $1200 all in (with 16" wheels) for a set of Good Year Ultra Grip. OK Tire quote $1109 for a set of Toyo G02 all in. I figured the Toyo price is not too bad. I got some estimate on-line off tirerack, the shipping is $200+ so it does not worthy it. If I can sure 15" wheels fit, I can have more choice. Place like Mits and OK Tire discourage 15" option. No one in Regina sure about the 15" tires without seeing the car and my daughter uses her car every day. I want to get the tires all done so that her BF car put on the tires for her. By the way, what will happen to the TPMS and/or SES light when the winter tires do not have sensors?

Well, I have heard that 15" won't clear the brake calipers... That was on a GTS model however, not sure about the other models. I would stick to 16" wheels and tires.
The TPMS won't work, you will have the warning light on all the time. I don't think the pressure sensors work with steel wheels, so you would have to buy alloy winter wheels and sensors for them.
What I got was a set of Michelin X-Ice II... I got them to fit my 18" factory wheels. So my TPMS will work in the winter with those wheels. And then I am planning on getting new wheels w/ pressure sensors for spring. Then I will just put the Dunlops on the summers wheels. I paid $230/tire from Value Tire, at least I think thats what it was. Fountain Tire quoted me over $320/tire!! Obviously the reason I went to Value Tire instead.
Your best bet for the 16" steel rims would probably be Canadian Tire... I think they sell for $60 each, don't quote me.
To be honest, your best bet might be to go with mitsu... It all depends if they have the tire you want.
Ya, the duty and brokerage is a real b!tch from tirerack.com. It sure adds up with all the extra fees!
Well, let me know what you decide on. If you decide to kind of do the same thing I am (buy a set of summer wheels and use factory for winter) let me know! Because between now and spring I will most likely be putting in an order to tirerack.com for wheels, and we could probably split the shipping and all that crap.
Take care, enjoy the craptacular weather!!
