Not long ago I responded to a post with a very similiar problem. Try searching on this to see what solution was reached. I believe I recommended checking and cleaning the charcol cannister which is used a a fuel tank breather and by-pass vent for emission control. Should be in the engine bay and generally has three hoses on top and two underneath.

Can't say I've looked for mine but on most cars they are about the size of a large coffee cup and have several hoses coming from the top and bottom. You can remove the canister and blow through the feeds but not the returns. From memory they are different diameters and one on top is open to atmoshere.

Yur Evaporative canister vent or the canister can be clogged. Or the Evap Purge solenoid can not be functioning, causing a rise in fuel tank pressure. An odd sounding situation. These are atmospheric induced but are vented mainly into the intake of the engine .

Yu can check for bad evap purge solenoid, a bad vacuum check valve going to the solenoid , or the hoses at the connection. There are also small valves at the tank side that can collapse and not let pressure pass.

Hope all gets sorted. On pretty much all cars with the original hood stickers, there should be a diagram of the Evaporative systems vacuum routing and solenoid and other vacuum diagram on the underside of the bonnet lid
