Depends really what you want it for, they have a far more european feel to them than any other mitsubishi, but i reckon thats a bad thing myself. The hatch is a pretty good buy,the boot can swallow loads of gear,A 2001 is still pretty new, depreciation isnt kind to these cars, you should be able to pick up an earlier one for very little. As with most mitsi's its reliable but if anything does go wrong its likely to be expensie.

Thanks for the reply Gevo, what County U from ??? 34 views as of this time, surely someone else has an opinion ???? Come on , trust me I won't bite!!!!! Should I buy one or not??? any of U any regrets, at the moment have a 2.0 Veccy cost me a fortune with Sensor faults / Engine Managment light and idle faults. Don't need a repeat performance of this from a Carisma ! Jonny C

Sounds like a good deal but not a great one,If you want a carisma that badly get it,but id advice you to take a look at a galant instead, used prices are dirt cheap and their rock solid and well speced. It would be more expensive to run than carisma, but its in a class way above the carimsa in terms of driving pleasure Dont mention insurance and tax costs to me youll only get me upset :( Oh and im sure if you give it some time someone who actually owns a carisma will show up and tell you what their really like

I think my plates are okay, their the standard font and size with drive-alive written below. I find most people just ignore the speed limit now and drive at the old mph speeds,Its really annoying to have to drive so slow on some roads that are safe for a far higher speed.Something like 90% of the roads have had the speed limit dropped and yet road deaths are higher than last year. :(

Yeah, I notice this every time I go back, bout 3 times a yr, signs in every County ( x amount of people died here in the last x months ) I recon biggest proble U have to look out for are Gato's & Mobile Speed Cameras, there worse than over here! ( revenue earners ) usually placed everywhere but accident blackspots :wallbash: Sometimes I wonder :whistling:

ok im mick, ive got a carisma . honest opinion stay away from the bank , most carisma,s are a hard ride light steering.,and noisy on the tappet side thats one of the common problems, on the gdi. if i were you go for something like a beema i purchased one from telford auctions on monday for 2300, r reg with 66000 miles fsh. you cant go wrong and it wont kill your bank balance if it breaks down.

I've got one, it was in a fairly bad way when I got it but it's getting there. the plan is to put in uprated parts every time something goes wrong. put a set of 18's on it, but the back arches are rubbing when I go over bumps with one or two people in the back (there's a tow bar on it so I expect the back shocks are in need of replacing).
honest opinion: I like it, seems to have potential.

I'm had my 51 GDi for 4 years now, very economical, 35 round town 50 ish on a run, reasonable power, not the best speced car, but has air con, big cup holders (unlike the vectra), a handy glasses compartment, crap lights, took a bit getting used to the low idle, reasonable traction, servicing from main dealer is about 200 ish, apart from 54,000, if you are really concerned about reliability, I think mitsubishi will give a years wraanty for about 250, which covers almost everything, insurance group 12 which I feel is a bit high

Hi Here is my opinion, I have a 51 Reg 1.8 GDI which I have had for 2½ years.
The car is a comfortable easy driving car, from experience use only Bridgestone or other quality branded tyres as mine did not handle well on budget brands but on the Bridgstones it is great.
Mine was good up until 65000 miles when it developed a misfire and so far as cost me £1200 and 2½ weeks in the dealer and they were not able to fix it and I am now waiting for it to break so that they can look at it again.
I would buy another but only the DID Diesel version as the engine in it is an excellent performer and also reasonably economical. When I first brought the car I could easiliy get 32 ~ 34 MPG around town and upward of 42 on a run, nowadays I am lucky if I get 25 ~ 28 MPG.
I am told by the local mobile tuning guru in our town that only Mitsubishi can access and adjsut the ECU as the software is not availble to him.
Hope this helps
