EDIT: Added 6 More Picture Variants

I have a bit of proficiency using Photoshop so in 3 seconds I whipped up what I think my car would look like if I blacked out the front end. So take a look at the before and after photos and tell me what you think! I did not do the chrome all the way around, this was a quick job so i did not bother, I dont know if i should have the chrome around it or not. If I ended up actually doing it, I don't think I will remove the license plate and relocate it to the side like the EVO. So, keep that in mind while you are looking.

Thank you so much for doing this!

My wife just agreed to let me do it because of your pics. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

She said I have to leave the surround and emblem chrome, but I was planning on it anyway. This is awesome!

Thanks again!

No prob! I might put one up where the chrome is still showing, and maybe even one with the license plate removed, depends on if i have time or not later today. Oh and the Dodge Viper is my dream car!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It was actually my dream car. Then my fiancé bought it the day before I made her my wife. It was very nice, but had its drawbacks. Now, with two beautiful baby boys, and no backseat in the Viper meant it had to go. I miss it, but in ways, my 14 second Dodge Neon was more fun to drive. Being 6'2", it was very tough to see in the Viper. My line of sight was right at the top of the windshield.

I still love it and miss it on occasion, but life takes us in many turns and this was one of mine. I am very happy for the way my life is and grateful that I owned the car of my dreams for over 3 years.

6ft has a rally red lancer and has plasti-dipped it.. go check out his pictures in my thread under "Plasti-dip" and you'll see the finished product. With any colour, you will find that the blackout look will look great.

Regards.

If you black out the front make sure you black out the stock chrome trim around the top grille and the middle bumper cover. I've seen others who left the stock chrome and just painted the bumper cover and it looked bad, imo. I also think it looks better when you black out the bottom piece that goes along the bottom of the bottom grille. Your pic shows it still rotor glow, try one with the bottom piece black too and see how you like it.
Since you have a colored car, there is really no need to do the ralliart chrome trim all the way around (like mine is), the black out is enough to get the look. The ralliart chrome trim idea is mostly done on black cars because we can't black out our fronts (its already black).
And if you do the black out, relocating the license plate is a must, imo. The plate ruins the whole look if you leave it in the center.

I added 4 more picture variations of the lancer to my original post using Photoshop. I added a pic where the front was blacked out but I kept the chrome grill as well as some others. Let me know how they turned out!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My fav............ Blacked Out, No License Plate.

I still say try a photoshop with the bottom part blacked out too. Look at a pic of the red EVO GSR on the mitsubishi website and you'll see what I'm talking about.

If you go back to the top at my first post I added the black to the bottom like the GSR so take a look!!

And as a special for Athrun88, I turned the car blue in another pic! So one with the bottom blacked out in Roto Glow and one with the black out in blue

That's the the one....... +1 for the Blacked Out Like EVO GSR.

Some people who blacked out didn't do the bottom and I think they missed the look a bit. Looks much better with the bottom too. The idea to create the illusion that the middle part of the front end is all one piece, kind of resembling the mouth of a fighter jet engine.

Yeah it makes it look like the car is sucking up air through the blacked out part in the front and going to a jet turbine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hyper.gif)

It's hard to explain, but it is like the car is shrouding the middle of the front end. aahhhhh i love it

Ya that's exactly what its like. I read an article that said the designers of the evo were inspired by a fighter jet, that's where the front end look came from.

Post pics of the real thing when you get it done.

Your welcome! I am glad my work can inspire some of you guys! I just picked up two cans of Plasti-Dip spray at my local hardware store in the paint section. I wanted to test it out so I took an old license plate I had, and sprayed just one quick coat on the back. After about 15-20 of drying time, I peeled it off with no fuss at all! It truly is like your peeling off a rubber glove almost.

My parents are not convinced though, not yet. My father is adamant about me paying the $170 bucks for the dealer to do it. HA! If I end up doing it, hopefully I will remember to take pictures, I am going to try and do it without taking anything off the car. I just hope it is car wash safe, wont stain my paint, and is resilient against rocks and bugs.

I have been PM'ing you, and just took a quick glance in a couple forums and came around this picture. http://forums.evolutionm.net/attachments/l...img_0320-1-.jpg those are almost like the rims that I have been looking for, but how would it look like in Octane Blue?
