my 1993 automatic starwagon occasionally idles high when at lights etc they want 1000 dollars 4 a idle speed control motor plus fitting could this be the problem or could it be something else had the throttle body cleaned ? and only getting 260km out of 55 litres

I'd check that you don't have a sticky throttle, (check that the throttle cable is moving freely, and same with all the linkages) I'm not sure which engine you have, but in my 94 Express I get about 350 litres to a tank, I'm pretty sure mine is around 55 litres as well, and I have the 2.0L Carby engine.

Thats bit rich.Check for vacuum leaks,also check and clean air flow meter(near the air cleaner),could be faulty oxygen sensor.

I was going to post a similar problem. I think my idle was set high to compensate when the air-con kicks in. In neutral when warm it revs at about 1100 RPM without the air-con blowing. I also have crappy fuel consumption but I do travel approx 75km a day and most of that is freeway travel. I still think the fuel consumption could be better though.

Where is the adjustment screw for the idle?

Right at the back down the bottom underneath the linkage to the cable. Older models have a hex screw for it.
