Yeah, I agree....Was the Teg supercharged or turbocharged? I have a very difficult time believing a chip added 40hp. These claims are the stuff of eBay lore.....

I put a new computer in my Neon after I had everything done. It raised my redline from 6,500 to 7,200 and advanced my timing a bit, adding a couple horsepower, but nothing great. It also changed the way my Neon accelerated and the power band a bit, but was only $200 or so. And that was for an entire computer from Mopar Performance.

Stick with a reputable brand if you are going to chip it. SuperChip and JetChip are 2 that I can think of off the top of my head.....

Some of these chips are scams, they provide no real gains. Best bet is a ECU flash or a piggy back ECU.

Problem alot of times is that people don't look for the possible gains in aftermarket products for a car that they are interested in until they buy the car & then find out that anything that they buy isn't going to add a whole lot of power....which of course bumms them out.
That's the Lancer for you.......
There are a bunch of parts that help....but your never going to get a lot of extra power out of the little 2.0 or the 2.4 unless you have them turbo's or IF they ever came out with a supercharger.
But if you want some big power out of the 2.0....should have gotten the Raliart or the Evo.....which stinks because they cost a bunch more than the regular Lancers.

It's a little bit off topic, but I once remembered my auto teacher talking about bolt on and chip upgrades. He took a look at a magazine, added up how much hp total that a list of parts would add, added up the price, and found out that 14 little bolt on stuff totaling to about $250 can give you 230 hp. The things people buy these days... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

He was a wise man. He made fun of a student that wanted to add a carbon fiber hood to his car cuz he claimed that he would lose 10 pounds and gain hp. The teacher went to his car, took out the floor mats, and said, "There you go. Saved you $400"
