Hi everyone.
I just got my Eclipse spyder 08 and after shipping for few weeks, i have some problems with the top.
when i try to close it from half-open position, it closes perfectly, but if i try to close it from fully opened position in one continuous movement (holding the close button all the way till closer) the top closes and as the rear part closes it stops on touching the back surface ( looks like fully closed) and i get 3 beeps instead of one long. After that, the top won't close or open and if i drive it beeps like i am driving with a partly open top. After a few hours to couple of days it disappears and I can operate the top again but with the above restriction. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks
boaz

My first guess would be a misaligned top or a bent bar (seeing your location I bet it took a hit in shipping). My second guess would be the sensors that judge it's position. Sorry I can't be of more help but I have the older top with alot less "technology" involved. Best of luck getting it working right. Shalom (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

one of the sensors or the latch that hits the sensor isnt getting good signal..

your nearest mitsu dealer can hook it too the scanner and tell which one... as it probably has set codes also..

and here in the USA it would be still in warranty... so im assuming the same in israel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

i'm having now an additional problem:
when opening the top' the rear window does not goes up fully before the cover gets up and it needs a little "push" to do so,
any idea?
thanks for the help,
Boaz
p.s. we do not have an authorized mitshubishi dealer for the eclipse in israel since it is not imported regularry by the mithubishi dealership in israel.

Contact Mitsubishi on their toll free number and see if they have another service center they will authorize to check it out. I'm sure they will want a fax of the repair estimate before authorizing any repairs. If it is found to be shipment damage you can also file a claim with the shipping company.

You can find all the info you need at:

http://www.mitsubishicars.com

Hope that helps.
