They had to make sure the intake would perform optimally on both engines.

Sounds more like "found a happy median" rather then the "optimal" performance.

There is no way that the 2.0 and the 2.4 are going to share the same "optimal" performance from an intake. But still in the end, the differences would be minimal. I just don't like the way they said that it was optimal for both. Does not sound right.

Ya I agree 100%, especially since on their website they claim 6.73 hp gain for both engines, didn't seem right to me either. "Happy median" is probably a better way to put. (but you know they aren't going to say that)

The first tech at K&N i talked to said to go ahead and run without the bracket for now, but that was when he was thinking 24-48 hours of use before they got back with me.

The 2nd tech said to put the stock back on in the mean time, but I didn't, partially just for curiosity sake, and it's still not moved a bit since i put it on about two weeks ago now.

The sound on this thing is pretty growly, btw. You'll deff have to go easy on the throttle to keep it quiet if you're trying not to wake the neighbors. It's fun to putter around town at 25, then get the surprised looks from people when you put your foot down when you hit the 55; around 3500rpm mivec kicks in and you get a hellacious growl.

Also, both people that were having the issue have the 08 model. The intake could possibly be ok for the 09 4b11 engines. Just a guess

I thought SRIs and CAIs were two separate things. When I go to K&N and search it brings up a CA. Can someone un-confuse me on this?

SRI= Short Ram Intake CAI= Cold Air Intake
K&N takes a short ram and they put a heat shield on it so that the ait they suck in is now colder. they believe that this justifies calling it a CAI. Its debateable but the difference it makes in our car is so miniscule what bother fighting?

I just installed the K&N intake on my lancer yesterday, I got an 09 ES, and the bracket is not there. It seems to be holding fine for now, but that extra bracket would make it a lot more solid.

Sounds absolutely bada$$
