I'm new to the forum here. Just bought a Rotor Glow Metallic 2009 Lancer GTS w/ CVT, nav, rockford fosgate, sunroof, touring package, etc. etc. I just had a couple questions about exhaust and web-sites. For exhaust, I'm coming from a 2005 C6 Corvette with B&B Bullet exhaust (they were loud), so I want something that I can hear, something that is more throatier than high pitched whine. I've heard a lot of Lancers and STI's and what not that have a very deep throated sound and I've liked them quite a bit. I've also heard the same vehicles with the high pitched whiney exhaust systems and I honestly can't stand those. So can you all make some suggestions? It seems that there's a lot of options but it's always nice to be able to narrow these things down. Next, what are some reputable web-sites for Lancer parts? Again, it seems like there is a lot of options but I'm wondering what are some of your favorites?

QUOTE (Ssikpiyelnats @ Aug 28 2009, 11:19 AM) I'm running a k&n short ram typhoon intake, with a custom welded 40 series flowmaster exhaust. At idle, you really can't hear much, but when I'm running WOT, you'll know I'm coming. I had the exhaust first, and I can tell you that the air intake made a noticable difference in the exhaust tone. I'm hoping to get some videos on YouTube this weekend. If so, I'll be happy to share them.
Enjoy your new lancer! Yeah, that'd be great! It's always good to have some vids/audio to get an idea of what some systems sound like.

WORKS has a really good site for parts as well: http://www.worksevo.com/store/index.php?cPath=33SpeedCorps is also another great site: http://www.speedcorps.com/I personally don't care that much for RRM RoadRaceMotorsports because you hear alot of people getting CEL's Check Engine Lights from their products. Wow......going from a bunch of HP to over 200 less. That's going to take some time getting used to. I am so used to having to punch my throttle to get going that any time I get into my 05 C6 Convt. & I hit the gas hard....oooops....am I exceeding the speed limit already? Fun times for sure...but I never have time to take her out....only have a little over 2K on the clock......sigh.

This was a video I shot back in February when I got my Flowmaster exhaust installed. I like it, not too ricey, a nice balance in sound range as well. Not too loud, but loud enough to be noticed by car enthusiasts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofUdoGovI_wDid a quick video on the way home today from work with my iPhone. This is more the intake, but it's a great sound. Regardless of what exhaust you get, I'd recommend getting one of these. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edT026TTp-U...feature=channel

There are more things to consider than just welding a muffler on. HKS, magnaflow, greddy, etc... they are the experts, you get the best product and the most hp gains by ponying up the $ and getting quality. I agree on the SRI intake, it will produce some nice sound. QUOTE (SixFeetDeep @ Aug 28 2009, 03:07 PM) I personally don't care that much for RRM RoadRaceMotorsports because you hear alot of people getting CEL's Check Engine Lights from their products. No problems here with the RRM products I have. 9 out of 10 times, CEL's are usually the result of bad installs. I will admit RRM can be pricey at times. Speed Corps... I never bought anything from them, but that's because I don't like the swearing and attitude on their website, so un-professional. Autocityimports is the best experience I've had buying online car parts. They will talk with you for an hour on the phone if needed to make sure you get exactly what you want/need. They never sell you something just to make a sale. They even talked me out of buying a part once that would have been the wrong part for my car, instead of like most other sites which would have just sold me the part and said I was SOL. Another time, when I bought my wind splitter, they didn't even have one in stock, but I had a car show coming up in 8 days and I wanted the splitter for the show. I called them, they contacted their suppliers, got the part shipped out that day at no extra cost to me, and I got the part 5 days later, Shipped from washington state to ny. Now that's customer service.

I agree on the SRI intake, it will produce some nice sound. I took the car to a shop to have the exhuast installed, and this is what they did. They removed the stock exhaust, and then cut just behind the mounting bracket on the pipe coming back from the cat. Then they welded a pipe onto the exhaust, connected it to the stock pipe, and mounted it. It essentially is mounted very similar to the Greddy SE. I would have preferred getting something like the HKS, or Greddy Ti-C, I just don't have that kinda dough to throw down on it. Trust me, I did the research on those exhaust systems! I can't even count how many videos I ended up watching!! LOL! I used the Flowmaster exhaust, because I had it in my garage from a previous car. It doesn't look that pretty, but it sounds pretty nice. I'd love to get the car on a dyno, and see where I'm at with HP. The K&N SRI dynos at 6.73hp above stock, so if my gain is anything more than that, I know the exhaust is helping. Here's a picture of the exhaust. It ain't pretty, but I love the sound I get out of it. Yeah...going from 400+ horsepower down to 168 takes a bit of getting used to for sure lol. I sure do miss my C6. What a phenomenal driving experience. I'll get another one someday though, absolutely.
