Ok i just recently bought a 95 Galant S for $300 with a blown motor with 119000 miles which is M/T, because my 96 galant LS was giving me too many suspension and A/T problems.

I have just recently took the good engine with 165k miles on it out of the 96. However, i am having a whole bunch of trouble trying to take the blown motor out of the 95.. is there something different that you have to do to take the engine out of a M/T car rather then an A/T?

On the plus side the previous owners have kept all the service receipts since it was bought on the 95. The 95 basically has all new stuff on it, it just needs a motor.

Werll yu need to remove the transmission for one thing , because of the input shaft. ALtho im noy sure in american models but with that model with a 4cyl here there is a 2 peice cv shaft on the right hand side. The intermediate shaft bolting to the engine (manual trans) juss like on the V6 models here.

But on 4cyl models we always remove the transmission , the position of teh a/c compressor on the 2.0 and 2.4 4cyl models make it hard to come away enough frum the transmission and up. Which yur left hand drive so itd be hard.

Are yu removing it with the transmission in? Yu are going to be giving yurself trouble. The clearance is really tight with the 4cyl engine of the back side frame to engine. Even if yu remove the compressor yu still have the tensioner and compressor bracket and harmonic balancer. If yu want an easy pull out , unbolt the transmission frum the crossbeam and upper rear mount to let it back sum and support it with a jack. It prolly broke cause yu are binding the transmission and engine to the frame of the car trying to get it out also.

Also yu will need to use things like yur distributor etc frum yur 1995 on the 1996 engine. And a host of other things.

oh i unbolted the tranny from the mounts the only thing holding the tranny down is the drive axels and i have spare ones if i break them.

i took off the balancer too i almost had it out when the engine hoist broke. so i have to wait until the hoist gets fixed, it broke at the welds (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

and with the distubutir i already was going to swap. i dont see anything different othe then one sensor thats on the 96 that the 95 dont have and thats the barometric pressure sensor. on top of the intake.
