Hello all, I have a bit of a problem and I hope someone can help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have a 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T non turbo.. (Same as 3000GT) Well the damn thing will not pass smog...

Here is what I have done to it and still will not pass..

* New Cat
* New Timing Belt
* New Injector O' Rings
* Cleaned the Cylinders
* New Idol Control Censor

My car doesn't only fail smog, it fails it bad... It does fine at 25mph but the 15mph test gets me.. Like everything is way over what it's suppose to be at...

Now anyone have any idea on what else it could be?

When I was looking to replace my down-pipe, I noted that there are standard and California-Spec down-pipes. The California-Spec pipe I think has a little extra cat on it... Yea, it does - I found a picture - check here: http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItem...?idProduct=1063

I guess the question is, is that the only difference, or is there other stuff too like an extra O2 sensor, etc....

Yea and you might try a new O2 sensor...

Here in NH - 1995 and older are emissions exempt - LIVE FREE OR DIE! I think I can actually take my cat out legally. And the newer cars - they just do an ODBII scan anyway.

When was the last time the car had a full service? you'd be surprised what an airfilter, new oil, oil filter and spark plug change can do emission wise.

and yes they make cali spec 3/s's

they come with 2 extra pre cat's. i don't remember in which order but the front 3 cyl's and back 3 cyl's have their own cat. one is on the down pipe and one is attatched to the exhaust manifold. so you'd have to get both the pieces. just a heads up

and yeah, try giving it the good old tuneup. maybe run a fuel system cleaner threw it. clean your maf sensor (the little resistor that is inside your maf) you get a can of cleaner and spray it a bunch and it will give you better inputs to your computer. just a bunch of things like that could help.

also have you cleaned out your throttle body manifold, and throttle plate?

92's will only have 1 cat. I would try a new O2 sensor if you haven't already. Get that stuff from autozone that you add to your gas to pass emissions. You'll know it by sight because it will have a 3000GT on the label LOL. I'm willing to bet it's just a lazy O2 sensor though.

sounds like the 02 sensor is shot, do have a dater logger fitted? as you can read the 02 sensor off that!
When I was tuning my MAF-T I had trouble tuning the 02's replaced the 02 sensor and solved everything + better MPG.
