hello everybody i bought a 1992 mitsubishi 3000 gt sl one year ago from my dad who hasnt drove it in 3 yrs. he said it ran kinda bad when he parked it as it had a hard time wanting to idle but wasnt sure why. i do know that the ecu was replaced back in october of 2003 and it was a used ecu from a dealer. i also know that after the years he has put a 200 amp battery charger on battery with cables still hooked up to the battery from car.. the car does not have any spark and the fuel pump dont want to come on for some reason. another weird thing is the radiator fan as it sometimes comes on when you turn the key on and sometimes it does not. any ideas anybody?? im thinking the ecu

Does the check engine light turn on and then turn off 10 seconds later when you turn the key to the on position?

If it stays on the whole time then there are codes stored. Read the codes (all you need is a voltmeter) and tell us what they are. If, when you are testing the ecu, the voltage is steady, then the ecu is bad. Check out www.stealth316.com for the way to read the codes.

ok so i found that the ecu was bad... just replaced it and now i have spark... i dont have the intake yet bolted down and i dont have the vacuum lines from intake hooked up to the mass airflow unit or the mass airflow hooked up to intake.. car tries to start but will not run at all but it does try to fire.. i was just wondering if those things mentioned above would cause this??
