Hi, All

I am a new member here from Toronto. I just got a 07 LS AWD with 22 thousand miles yesterday. Great truck!

I do have a small problem with the gear shifter. When it's in D it can be moved about half way towards N. It will not switch to N accidentally, so it seems safe and everything, but it should not be that loose.

I know that this particular truck has 2 outstanding recalls, one of them # C0803M SHIFT INTERLOCK. The problem described in the recall is not the looseness, but that the key can be removed from the ignition while D is selected. However, I found a document describing the repair step by step and it looks like it may address the play in the shifter as well, but I don't know for sure until I take it in.

Anyone had this problem? Also I am wondering if I am correct presuming the recall work will fix my issue.

Thanks,
Yury

yes thats what the shift interlock recall fixes....
the fact that the key can taken out while in P or D ..
have the recall done at your friendly neighborhood mitsu dealer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

I had the recall done yesterday. It did not fix the looseness of the shift lever, it still can be moved out about half way towards N while in D.
From the looks of the recall (there's a pdf floating about on the net) it may not have much to do with my problem.

The tech said that this looseness is "pretty much normal for Endeavors". Because this is my first visit to this particular dealer I am taking his reply with a grain of salt.

So, is this really common? For some reason I cannot find ANY complaints about it on the net. I am tempted to remove the center console and take a look for myself. The recall instructions include the removal of the console, so it should be straight forward.
