Just noticed this on Craigslist in Michigan. Looks like the body is decent. The whole timing chain worries me.
If the timing chain goes, doesn't that bend the valves?

we have a timing belt, not a chain. When it goes, there's trouble. This is an interference motor - the pistons hit the valves if the timing is off... that means, cyliner heads off - heads rebuilt with new valves - and probably new pistons too. So, if you're looking for a nice winter project - go for it. In my area, that would be a high price.

if everything else is really good, then it's not bad of a deal, my buddy just bought a 93 DOHC 3kgt with a broken timing belt for $500, it has 130k on it, but everything else it in top shape, even under the car, no rust at all, came with new 18" TSW rims and tires, custom exhaust and wing, he bought a used motor, change timing belt, water pump, oil pump, and some gasket, he pulled the all motor out and put the other one in by himself in 2 weekends, for everything he's in for about $2,300, some guys offer him $3,500 already.

I thought the guy meant timing belt, but just wanted to write it as worded from the ad. The person sold it already. Didn't find out if it was the Vr4 or Sl.

My cousin wants a 3000gt after I purchased one a couple months ago. I thought he could use a good project now that he is out of school. Guess I was too late to act on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)

Once again, thanks for all the help. I just wanted to double check that when timing belt goes the motor is shot until it's rebuilt.
