Are there any 3rd gen people alive out there? Looks like we need a new topic... ok, who has done or is planning suspension upgrades, and what are they? lowering springs, shocks, coilovers, swaybars, strutbars, etc. and the brands.

To answer the original question I did a suspension up-grade about a month ago (By myself). I replaced the original shocks and struts with KYB-GR2's. I also have a Vibrant Stut tower bar. Its okay, but I would like to get a rear tower bar aswell to tighen up the rear end. I also did the brakes at the same time. I put on sloted and vented EBC rotors and pads. I like the rotors the car stops much quicker now. But I'm not a fan of the pads, the shims fell off as I was putting them on and they never went on right afterward. Needless to say new pads and they squeek at low speeds.

nice, I did suspension techniques anti-swaybars front and back, DC sports strut tower bars front and back also, and TIEN super street coilovers. they dropped the car 2 inches and are fully adjustable. I wish i would have just done springs and shocks though. (much cheaper.) I also did Brembo rotors and Stillen's Metal matrix brake pads.

Yeah I just used the stock springs. I don't race the car at all. It just nice to have all the upgrades for tighter cornering, and a reduction of stopping distance. Especially being in KY were theirs tight corners everywhere, and no shortage of dumb drivers that pull out in front of me. I was going to do a short ram intake (K&N) but the price went up so high in the last year i just don't see the point in spending 250 for an extra 5hp at 5500rpm. So ill probably settle for the stock K&N replacement; I think its like a 2-3hp gain @ 5500rpm. If I'm gonna start spending serious money I'm just gonna go all out for a turbo. Plus being in KY it rains a lot here and I don't feel comfortable running the car without a snorkel on the air cleaner. (unless someone has gone through a hurricane with a Short Ram, and the engine lived to run another day lol). But that's a whole other topic.

ya and besides, if you drop all that money for a turbo kit, it comes with the intake and everything.

ya, before I did my turbo kit i had the K&N short ram set up also. It does sound pretty good. and I still use it off of the turbo inlet. so not a wast of money at all.

ROFL!!! ... I know, I'm late.

Question ... I'm putting on Tein S-Tech lowering springs on my 3g and buying some rims and tires, the guy at the shop says I need a camber kit to lower the car or the tires will wear out faster. He says dropping + negative camber ... any truth to this? I don't want to spend money if it isn't necessary, Just want my 3g to look more aggressive

Yes its true, lowering your car will give you negative camber. But you do not need a camber kit. I lowered mine 2'' over 40,000 miles ago, and hardly have any ware at all that is out of proportion with the rest of the tire. (It theoretically wears faster on the inside edge of the tire) so just look at it from time to time. But what it all comes down to is how you dive. If you drive like a crazy ass hole you will be replacing tires quickly no matter what you do... So a Camber kit is preffered but in no way necessary in my opinion.

I don't plan on driving crazy with the 18's on the car ... I hear a lot of stories of bent wheels so I'll grandma drive till I switch back to stocks for the winter.
