I have a 2009 GTS with HID's and what to replace the parking light bulbs. The problem is that I DON'T have an owners manual so I am having to guess how to to do it. Do I remove the whole light assembly? It so how? Or can the bulbs be reached from under the car? From the engine bay it isn't possible and I have long arms. I know it's a simple thing but I'm in the dark, so to say.

Are you talking about the city lights on the far corners of the headlight assembly? If so, the answer is NO, you DO NOT have to remove the whole assembly. Replacing those bulbs are VERY easy.

Pop the hood and see if you can look down behind the headlight assembly. You will see 3 plugs (on a stock setup), if you reach in you will find a small plug that you can rotate counter-clockwise to remove it. Once you have that out, just yank the bulb out and replace with one of your choice. To reinstall, just reverse what you did. Just to note, putting it back in is abit trickier because you have to line it up just right. If you need pics, let me know, i will take them now and post if you need them.

Regards.

I do not work for Hoen or have stock with them yet.......... lol.......... but....

Hoen has the city lights (led's). I believe the stock is a W5W bulb. The Hoen led is a replacement for that W5W bulb. Same as the license plate bulbs.

^ How much is HOEN paying you? You are probably making good money off your commission... I want in on it! LOL

All this talk about HOEN is making think about ordering a complete set of low/high/fog bulbs.... Glad to hear people are happy with the results. Thanks for all your sales pitches NY! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)

LOL, I don't get anything from Hoen. I just think they are the best thing out there without going HID.

I just looked in the manual and the city lights are actually WY5W bulbs. Hoen led's are a replacement for 168 / 194 / 2825 / W5W bulbs. So I believe they will work fine, I think the Y just stands for yellow. The hoen lights are white.

The W5W lights are the city lights (small lights farthest from the grill) and the license plate lights.

I did a quick google search and came up with these blue city lights. Looks like this is a UK site, says they ship world wide, but if they don't ship to you, at least you know there are blue city lights out there.

according to the owners manual you are supposed to peel back the plastic piece inside the wheel well and you can access the bulb assembly, just turn and remove, replace bulb and reverse to reinstall. Unfortunately, I'm a moron and can't figure out how to remove the clips, so right now my Hoen LED city lights are sitting in the bag. The manual diagram just shows using a screw driver to turn the clips, but i can't get them out. Any help would be appreciated. I cant reach the assembly around the stock HID housing.

Also as a side note, Hoen told me that they might make a limited run of the 1156 bulbs with cobalt glass sometime in 2010. I'm looking forward to replacing my stock DRL bulbs with these as the PIAAs I got are just not white enough for me.

I changed my city lights this morning, i dont know why they ask you to take off the wheel welds but those rivets you have to put ZERO pressure on them and unscrew and when they dont come out anymore just grab them and pull them out.

I personally just reached around my HID harness' and got to both of them took me around 10 mins but im not sure if i pushed them in far enough for the rain. Lol we'll soon see!

(I will post picture later tonight because in the morning the lights look kinda... blah...
These are the Eurolite ROX suggested to me i bought off ebay for less then $10 shipping and all. (Canadian)

^ T0oMas - You beat me to it. I ordered red led city lights should be here in the next day or so. I also ordered a 7 color interior led set (will keep it on red most of the time) and red led map lights. My cars colors are black, white and red.
I got the led map lights and led city lights from www.autolumination.com and the interior led kit from www.ledunderbody.com. I'll post pics once I get it all installed.

Your blue city lights look hot. Very cool.

That might be right, idk if there is such a law here, but even if there is, you don't really think that will stop me now do you, lol. The city lights are so small no one notices them from far away. If you get pulled over with your lights on, turn your lights off when the cop walks up.
Heck technically HID conversion kits (converting a halogen setup to hid setup) are illegal in many states, especially in a reflector headlight system, but lots of people put the conversion kits in and never have a problem with the law. If I get grief at inspection time, I'll just put the amber bulbs back in for the inspection.

I asked a guy I work with who is certified to do NY state inspections and he said they wont pass, so I'll swap them out at inspection time. I see a guy that has red city lights in the town near by me all the time, that's where I got the idea from. I see HID's and tinted tails all the time too. I don't think most cops will bother pulling you over just for city lights. I'll just carry my amber bulbs with me just in case. The city lights are so small that I can't imagine a cop driving by or sitting on the side of the road as you drive by is going to even notice.
I did look up the law, most countries require red in the back, amber for side facing lights or turn signals, and white/yellow for front facing. So you technically could put white in the city lights and be fine. But either way I'll put the red leds in and see how noticeable they are.

350$ fine on the spot for and blue/red light visable, and arent on the back of the car. They are assholes about it especially if u get caught with a car like ours NY. I pulled the "oh my friend said they were okay sorry bullshit" and he laughed and wrote my ticket, and gave me a fixit notice. lol. I know a cop so the ticket was taken care of, but still. Red is for emergency / service vehciles only. Blue is emergency only, so ull get a ticket on that also. white as rear blinkers arent bad(u dont get pulled over for them). But they will issue fixit ticket.

Ive been pulled over a few times experimenting, and i got away with it 2 outa the 5 times. 1 ticket, 2 fixit's. And im sure they arent any nicer where you guys live.

$350 man that's crazy. I highly doubt a ticket here would be that much. Even speeding 20+ over is only like $300. I got busted over the summer for 16mph over and it was only $150, I can't imagine small red lights would cost that much, but I really don't know.

But anyway, I did do some more research on this:
Any color besides amber or white on parking (city) lights is illegal.
Some cops may even pull you over for white parking (city) lights if they feel they have too blue of a tint to them.
I've read about people getting busted for all kinds of colors.
I've read about people having red, blue, white parking (city) lights and never had a problem. Some running them for years and never pulled over.
I've read about people having red and blue turn signals and never got pulled over. One guy claims he got pulled over for speeding, had red parking lights and red turn signals and did not get ticketed for them.
Seems like most people who did get pulled over and got a ticket just got a fix it ticket.

White should be fine for the city lights.

So yes, colors other than amber or white are illegal, you may or may not get busted. It's probably the same as many things while driving, if the cop wants to find something and ticket you they will. I have stickers on my rear window which here in NY is illegal and I never had a problem. Even went thru road blocks, no prob. Also here loud stereos are illegal, $500 fine and they tow your car. I have driven by cops with windows down and stereo all the way up, never had a problem. Once in my mustang a cop heard my stereo, followed me to the gas station, then wanted to check out my stereo. He ran my license and then left, no ticket. So who knows, depends on the cop and location I guess.

I just got my red led city lights and red led map lights today. I just installed them and they look great. Can you notice the red city lights....... absolutely. They are not brighter than the stockers, they are just as bright as the amber, but are red. I'm going to run them for now. Was raining and dark out so I'll get pics and post them soon.

Yep!

In Ontario, you get an automatic fine if you have a) visible red/blue/green lights at the front of the vehicle; b ) if said lights are flashing or flickering (including your headlights if they are HID with no DRL bypass [which is illegal to have in Canada (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ]); c) blue/green lights at the rear of the vehicle (flashing rule applies here as well); d) side marker lights (if applicable) cannot be any of the aforementioned colours.

Brother is a cop-to-be and i get him to ask all my traffic related questions to his profs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Regards.
